Ireton is a city in Sioux County, Iowa, United States. The population was 590 at the time of the 2020 census. History Ireton was platted in 1882. It was named after Henry Ireton, who served under Oliver Cromwell during the English Civil War. A post office has been in operation in Ireton since 1882. Geography Ireton is located at (42.974206, -96.317640). Indian Creek, a tributary of the Big Sioux River flows through the northern part of the city. Kirk Ireton
Kirk Ireton is a village and civil parish in Derbyshire, England, southwest of Wirksworth on a hillside near Carsington Water, above sea level. The population at the 2011 Census was 518. Ireton is a corruption of the Saxon ''hyre-tun'', meaning "Irishman's enclosure"; ''Kirk'' was added after the Norman invasion and the building of the church. The village dates back to at least the Bronze Age. Kirk Ireton remains what it has always been, an agricultural village. Following the Second World War the number of working farms dropped from over thirty to half a dozen in the space of 40 years. The last cow was turned down Main Street in the late 1980s, but Fords, Matkins, Rowlands, Walkers and Wards still farm locally as they have done for many generations. Many of the former farm buildings have been adapted into houses. Much of the older part of the village dates back to the 17th century and is mostly built from sandstone, quarried locally. Idridgehay
Idridgehay is a village in the English county of Derbyshire. The appropriate civil parish is called Idridgehay and Alton. The population of this parish at the 2011 census was 275. Geography Idridgehay lies south of the town Wirksworth west of the town of Belper in the valley of the River Ecclesbourne. Idridgehay Green is immediately to its west and the hamlet of Ireton Wood a mile to its south. Transport The village lies on the B5023 road that connects Wirksworth and Duffield. However the main bus service, route 6.1 operated by Trentbarton, is between Matlock and Belper. Idridgehay railway station (re-opened in 2008) is on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, a community-owned and locally managed heritage railway venture having reopened and operate the railway between those towns.
