Irene Mogaka Kemunto (born 10 January 1985) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in the marathon. She began running at national level around 2005 and took second at the Kisii cross country meet that year. She made her marathon debut at the Nairobi International Marathon and finished in tenth place with a time of 2:48:27. She improved her time to 2:41:12 with a fifth-place finish at the 2007 edition of the Mumbai Marathon. She was crowned the 5000 metres provincial champion for the Nyanza Province in June that year. Osaka Women's Marathon
The is an annual marathon road race for women over the classic distance of 42.195 kilometres which is held on the 4th or 5th Sunday of January in the city of Osaka, Japan, and hosted by Japan Association of Athletics Federations, Kansai Telecasting Corporation, the Sankei Shimbun, Sankei Sports, Radio Osaka and Osaka City. The first edition took place on January 24, 1982, and was won by Italy's Rita Marchisio. The 1995 marathon was cancelled due to the Great Hanshin earthquake. The race takes place in the city and passes prominent landmarks such as Osaka Castle. The course was altered in 2011 to allow for faster times by cutting out a number of hilly sections near Osaka Castle. The finish line of the race is at Nagai Stadium, which was the host venue for the 2007 World Championships in Athletics. Irene Jerotich Kosgei (born 8 September 1974) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. Her first victory over the distance came at the Nairobi Marathon in 2006 and she won the race again in 2010 with a course record and personal best time of 2:28:47. She became the first Kenyan woman to win the Commonwealth marathon title at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. Athletics At The 2010 Commonwealth Games
The athletics competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games was held in New Delhi, India between 6 and 14 October. The track and field events took place between 6–12 October at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium while the marathon contests were held on a street course running through the city on 14 October. A total of 46 athletics events were contested, which made it the sport with the second greatest number of medals on offer after the aquatics competition. The programme was almost identical to that of the 2006 edition, with the sole exception being the men's 50 km race walk, which was dropped. As in 2006, three men's and three women's disability athletics events were contested alongside the open competition. Hellen Jemaiyo Kimutai (born 28 December 1977) is a Kenyan marathon runner. She started out in cross country running and was fourth in the junior race at the 1993 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, taking the team gold medal with Kenya in a perfect score. She set a course record time of 1:05:28 hours to win the 20 Kilomètres de Paris in 2000. Her personal best time is 2:25:53 hours, achieved in April 2003 winning the Hamburg Marathon. Her first senior international competition came at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics, where she finished ninth for Kenya in the marathon.
