Irene Franchini
Irene Franchini (born 23 July 1981) is an Italian recurve and compound archer and part of the national team. She competed in the team event and individual event at the 2000 Summer Olympics. She won the gold medal at the 2016 World Indoor Archery Championships in the compound women's individual event and the bronze medal in the compound women's team event. Together with her teammates Franchini won the bronze medal at the 2021 European Archery Championships The 2021 European Archery Championships were held from 31 May to 6 June in Antalya, Turkey. Castelnovo Ne' Monti
Castelnovo Monti (officially Castelnovo ne' Monti; locally ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Reggio Emilia, central Italy. Along with every other town and village in the Apennines, Castelnovo is an approved area for the production of Parmesan cheese. It is also home to the only hospital in the area. Geography It is situated in the Reggiano Apennines mountains. Castelnovo is best known for the Pietra di Bismantova spur. The pietra (literally "Rock of Bismantova") can be spotted from a distance of as it stands at around above sea level. The rock is a favourite climbing and abseiling destination throughout Italy and is considered a particularly difficult climb due to its outward-curving wall. The 2000 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXVII Olympiad and also known as Sydney 2000 (Dharug: ''Gadigal 2000''), the Millennium Olympic Games or the Games of the New Millennium, was an international multi-sport event held from 15 September to 1 October 2000 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Archery At The 2000 Summer Olympics – Women's Individual
The women's individual archery event at the 2000 Summer Olympics was part of the archery programme. Like other archery events at the Olympics, it featured the recurve discipline. All archery was done at a range of 70 metres. 64 archers competed. The competition format was unchanged from 1996. The competition began with a 72-arrow ranking round. This was followed by three elimination rounds, in which archers competed head-to-head in 18-arrow matches. After these rounds, there were 8 archers left. The quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches (collectively termed the "finals round") were 12-arrow matches. In all matches, losers were eliminated and received a final rank determined by their score in that round, with the exception of the semifinals.
