The Iraqi Second Division League is a football league that is the fourth tier of the Iraqi football league system. The league consists of 173 teams and was founded in 1974. League format The Second Division League consists of 173 teams, Each group of teams affiliated to a governorate plays within that governorate, 38 teams are promoted to the First Division League on a 1 out of 5 system. Al-Jamahir Sport Club ( ar, نادي الجماهير الرياضي), is an Iraqi football team based in Karbala, that plays in Iraq Division Three. History Al-Jamahir Sports Club was established in 1973, the team played for the first time in the Iraqi Premier League at the 1988–89 season in the Central Group, and did not achieve good results, so they relegated to Iraq Division One at the end of the season. Iraqi Super Cup
The Iraqi Super Cup ( ar, كأس السوبر العراقي), previously called Iraqi Perseverance Cup ( ar, كأس المثابرة العراقي), is Iraqi football's annual match contested between the champions of the previous Iraqi Premier League season and the holders of the Iraq FA Cup. If the Premier League champions also won the FA Cup then the league runners-up provide the opposition. The fixture is a recognised football super cup. Extra-time is not played in the case of a draw; the game goes straight to penalties instead. The current holders are Al-Shorta, who defeated Al-Karkh 1–0 in the 2022 match. Iraq Stars League
The Iraq Stars League ( ar, دوري نجوم العراق) is the top level of the Iraqi football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Iraqi Premier Division League. It is governed by the Iraqi Pro League Association. The league was formed by the Iraq Football Association in 1974 as the Iraqi National Clubs League, the first nationwide league of clubs in Iraq, and later became known as the Iraqi Premier League. In 2023, the competition was transformed into a professional league under the name Iraq Stars League. The current format sees 20 teams playing 38 matches each (playing each team in the league twice, home and away), totalling 380 matches in the season. Of the 79 teams to have competed since the inception of the league in 1974, eleven have won the title.
