Ipswich Model Band
The Ipswich Model Band is a marching band formed in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia, in 1906. It is still active as a community band. History Ipswich Model Band were formed early in January 1906 in the south-east Queensland city of that name. The inaugural secretary, George Bizzell, and treasurer, R. Grainger organised the purchase of their early instruments with funds raised by members subscriptions. One of the group's first performances was at the East Ipswich ground of the local rugby union team in June of that year. By October the conductor was Samuel O. Booth and the band held socials to raise further funds. In 1915 the conductor was J. W. Bergemeister. In May 1924 the conductor, Horace J. Harper, celebrated the band's victories in a recent state competition, held at Toowoomba and run by the Queensland Band Association. East Ipswich is a residential inner-city suburb of Ipswich in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. In the , East Ipswich had a population of 2,410 people. ABC North Queensland
ABC North Queensland is an ABC Local Radio station based in Townsville broadcasting to North Queensland. This includes the towns of Bowen, Charters Towers, Ingham and Ayr. The station began broadcasting as 4QN in 1936. It was originally a relay station covering the whole of North Queensland with limited local news bulletins. Local program content increased in the 1960s and the station was also the home of regional ABC Television in Townsville, Cairns and Mount Isa. By the 1980s local program content was broadcast for most of the day, as well as a separate regional breakfast program. 4QN was also the headquarters of the regional network. ''The Examiner'' is the daily newspaper of the city of Launceston and north-eastern Tasmania, Australia. Overview ''The Examiner'' was first published on 12 March 1842, founded by James Aikenhead. The Reverend John West was instrumental in establishing the newspaper and was the first editorial writer. At first it was a weekly publication (Saturdays). The Examiner expanded to Wednesdays six months later. In 1853, the paper was changed to tri-weekly (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), and first began daily publication on 10 April 1866. Radio National, known on-air as RN, is an Australia-wide public service broadcasting radio network run by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). From 1947 until 1985, the network was known as ABC Radio 2. Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, (Henry William Frederick Albert; 31 March 1900 – 10 June 1974) was the third son and fourth child of King George V and Queen Mary.
