Sergei Ivanovich Ipatov (russian: Сергей Иванович Ипатов, born November 10, 1952, Moscow) is a Soviet, Russian, and American scientist, laureate of the F. A. Bredikhin Prize in astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Asteroid 14360 Ipatov was named in his honor. Alexander Ipatov ( uk, Олександр Іпатов, Oleksandr Ipatov; born 16 July 1993) is a Ukrainian-born Turkish chess grandmaster. He is the top ranked chess player of Turkey. Ipatov was world junior champion in 2012 and Turkish champion in 2014 and 2015. Since 2012, he has played for the Turkish national team in the Chess Olympiad, World Team Chess Championship and European Team Chess Championship. Early years Ipatov was born on July 16, 1993, in Lviv, Ukraine. His father taught him how to play chess when he was four, and his mother brought him to the local chess club at the age of six. He trained there for four years. Chess career In March, 2003, Ipatov became the under-10 vice-champion of Ukraine. Pavel Leonidovich Ipatov (russian: Па́вел Леони́дович Ипа́тов; born 12 April 1950) is a Russian politician who served as Governor of Saratov Oblast from 2005 until 23 March 2012. He was the first governor appointed by president Vladimir Putin. Ipatov is a member of United Russia. He was previously the director of a nuclear power plant. Career Ipatov was born in the village of Asbestovsky in Sverdlovsk Oblast and studied at the Urals Political College in Sverdlovsk. In 1975 he graduated from the Ural State Technical University with a degree in electrical engineering and joined the power generation industry. Dimitry Gennadyevich Ipatov (russian: Дмитрий Геннадьевич Ипатов) (born June 30, 1984 in Magadan) is a Russian ski jumper who has been competing since 2002. Competing in two Winter Olympics, he earned his best finish of eighth in the team large hill event at Turin in 2006. Ipatov's best finish at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was fifth in the team normal hill at the 2005 championships in Oberstdorf while his best individual finish was ninth at Sapporo in 2007. His best finish at the Ski-flying World Championships was seventh in the team event (2004, 2006) while his best individual finish was 39th (2004).
