Iowa City High School
Iowa City High School is a state school, public high school in Iowa City, Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa and is part of the Iowa City Community School District. The present high school was completed as part of the Public Works Administration, Public Works Projects started by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide jobs. The first classes were held in the fall of 1939. The previous high school building, built in 1909, was converted to a junior high school after the new building opened. It was located where Mercy Medical Plaza now stands. The current building sits on a hill on the east side of Iowa City. The school motto is "The School that Leads." History Iowa City has had public education called "high school" at least as far back as 1858, when M.B. Beals was hired as principal; though Beals' records do not show where classes were held, there were 35 boys and 35 girls attending in 1860. Iowa City Community School District
Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD) is the public school district that serves the Iowa City, Iowa area. Over 14,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade attend 21 elementary schools, three junior high schools, three comprehensive high schools, and one alternative school for ninth through twelfth graders. The district covers and serves the communities of Iowa City, Coralville, Hills, North Liberty, University Heights and the surrounding rural areas. The school district employs over 2,200 people. It is the fifth largest school district in the state of Iowa and the second largest employer in the Iowa City area. Jason Reeves (songwriter)
Jason Bradford Reeves (born July 1, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. He grew up in Iowa City, Iowa before locating to California in 2005, where he began a long-standing working relationship with producer Mikal Blue and singer Colbie Caillat. He co-wrote many songs with Caillat, most notably the songs "Bubbly", " Realize" and " I Never Told You". "Bubbly" has been Reeves most successful work to date, hitting No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' Adult Contemporary charts, No. 5 on the Hot 100 and being certified Platinum (along with "Realize") by the RIAA. He has won awards from ASCAP. Reeves works as a solo artist and also as a co-writer with other artists, including Australian artist Lenka, with whom he wrote " The Show". Dan McCarney
Patrick Daniel McCarney (born July 28, 1953) is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Iowa State University from 1995 to 2006 and the University of North Texas from 2011 to 2015, compiling a career college football coaching record of 78–117. Playing career McCarney played football at Iowa City High School, and was an offensive lineman at the University of Iowa from 1972 to 1974 and was named team captain in 1974. Coaching career Iowa McCarney returned to Iowa as a graduate assistant from 1977 to 1978 under Bob Commings. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. Carol Kelso
Carol Kelso (born May 26, 1945) is an American politician who served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1995 to 2001. Early life and education Kelso was born on May 26, 1945, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She graduated from Iowa City High School in Iowa City, Iowa, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University. Career After graduating from college, Kelso moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Kelso became active in the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and served as the public information coordinator of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District starting in 1989. Jay Walter Hilgenberg (born March 21, 1959) is an American former professional football player who was a center in the NFL. He played for the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns and the New Orleans Saints from 1981 to 1993. He is the son of All-American University of Iowa center Jerry Hilgenberg and nephew of Minnesota Vikings linebacker Wally Hilgenberg.
