Iosra Abdelaziz
Iosra Abdelaziz (born 7 December 1999 in Segrate) is a retired Italian artistic gymnast. She represented Italy at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and won the silver medal on the uneven bars. Junior career Abdelaziz's international debut was at the 2014 International Gymnix in Montreal where she won a bronze medal with the Italian team. She also won a team bronze medal at the City of Jesolo Trophy. Additionally, she placed fifth on bars and eighth in the all-around. At the Munich Friendly, she won a bronze medal in the all-around and with the team. Then at the Junior European Championships, she helped the Italian team place fifth. She finished 18th in the all-around during the qualification round, but she did not advance into the final due to the two-per-country rule. Then, she won the silver medal in the all-around behind Elisa Meneghini at the Italian Championships in addition to bronze on the floor exercise. Gymnastics at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 17 to 27 August at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre in Nanjing, China. Qualification Artistic Gymnastics Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) can enter a maximum of 2 athletes, 1 per each gender. Athletes can qualify their nations in one of five continental qualification tournaments. The host quota was not given to China because they qualified 2 athletes at the 2014 Asian Championships. Initially 6 spots, 3 in each gender was allocated to the Tripartite Commission, however only two spots were given; this will cause a reduction from the continental quota depending which continent the chosen athlete is from. Due to the lack of eligible athletes at the African Championships one male athlete quota was transferred to Europe. In gymnastics, the floor is a specially prepared exercise surface, which is considered an apparatus. It is used by both male and female gymnasts. The gymnastics event performed on the floor is called floor exercise. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is FX. A spring floor is used in all of gymnastics to provide more bounce, and also help prevent potential injuries to lower extremity joints of gymnasts due to the nature of the apparatus, which includes the repeated pounding required to train it. Balance Beam
The balance beam is a rectangular artistic gymnastics apparatus and an event performed using the apparatus. Both the apparatus and the event are sometimes simply referred to as "beam". The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is BB. The beam is a small, thin beam which is typically raised from the floor on a leg or stand at both ends. The uneven bars or asymmetric bars is an artistic gymnastics apparatus. It is made of a steel frame. The bars are made of fiberglass with wood coating, or less commonly wood. The bars are placed at different heights and widths, allowing the gymnast to transition from bar to bar. A gymnast usually adds white chalk to the hands so that they can grip the bar better.
