Iosegun Lake (Alberta)
Iosegun Lake is a lake in northwest Alberta within the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16. It is located north of Fox Creek, approximately from Highway 43. Iosegun is a name derived from an Indigenous language denoting "tail". Provincial recreation area The Iosegun Lake Provincial Recreation Area is located on the southeast shore of Iosegun Lake at the mouth of an unnamed creek originating at nearby Raspberry Lake to the east. Camping Operated by the Town of Fox Creek, the recreation area includes a campground featuring 52 campsites, a day use site, and a group use site. Camping season begins on May 24 and ends on October 1. Recreation Other recreational activities include canoeing/kayaking, cross-country skiing, fishing, ice fishing, power boating, snowmobiling (off-site), swimming, and water skiing. Fox Creek is a town in northwest Alberta, Canada. It is located on Highway 43, approximately northwest of Edmonton and southeast of Grande Prairie, and has an elevation of . Fox Creek is within the Upper Peace planning region, and is surrounded by the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16. History On June 6, 1952, the townsite for a future community was selected by Ryan Krause and Victor Heath. It was named ''Fox Creek'' after the watercourse adjacent to the western edge of the townsite, which drains towards Iosegun Lake to the north. The original survey of the townsite occurred over three days in late October, 1955. At the same time, a townsite for another future community was surveyed to the north of Fox Creek on Iosegun Lake's eastern shore.
