Ioniq (stylized as IONIQ) is an automotive marque and a division of Hyundai Motor Company with headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. The marque was established in 2020 as a sub-brand for Hyundai's electric vehicle line-up. The sub-brand is slated to aid Hyundai to achieve a targeted one million electric vehicle sales annually by 2025, with the Ioniq brand projected to contribute 560,000 of those sales. The Hyundai Prophecy is a concept electric car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai presented in March 2020, and announced in a family sedan range in 2021 replacing the Hyundai Ioniq. The Hyundai Prophecy EV is going into production together with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 with the mission to form part of the company’s 23 electric vehicles (EV) portfolio by 2025.
