Ion Haidu (footballer)
Ion Iuliu Haidu (known as János Hajdu) (born 1 January 1942) is a Romanian former footballer who played as a forward. International career Ion Haidu played four friendly games and scored two goals at international level for Romania, scoring a goal in his debut, a 3–2 victory against East Germany. In his second game for the national team he scored Romania's goal in the 1–1 against Poland. He also played four games and scored one goal for Romania's Olympic team. Sfântu Gheorghe (; hu, Sepsiszentgyörgy or ''Szentgyörgy'' ; yi, סנט דזשארדזש; English lit.: ''Saint George'') is the capital city of Covasna County, Romania. Located in the central part of the country and in the historical region of Transylvania, it lies on the Olt River in a valley between the Baraolt Mountains and Bodoc Mountains. The city administers two villages, Chilieni (''Kilyén'') and Coșeni (''Szotyor''). History Sfântu Gheorghe is one of the oldest cities in Transylvania, the settlement first having been documented in 1332. The city takes its name from Saint George, the patron of the local church. Historically it was also known in German as ''Sankt Georgen''. The 1972–73 Cupa României was the 35th edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea against Constructorul Galați. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. In the first round proper, two pots were made, first pot with Divizia A teams and other teams till 16 and the second pot with the rest of teams qualified in this phase. Each tie is played as a single leg. First round proper matches are played on the ground of the lowest ranked team, then from the second round proper the matches are played on a neutral location. In the first round proper, if a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, and if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, the team who played away will qualify. The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Generally, Seria I included eastern teams while Seria II included western sides, although clubs near the center of the country are allowed to choose in which series they will compete. The first six teams from each series participate in a play-off for potential promotion to Liga I. The teams placed from 7th to 12th will play a relegation play-off, where the last two teams are relegated to Liga III.
