Iorwerth () is a Welsh name, composed of two elements: ''iôr'' meaning "lord" and ''berth'' meaning "fair", "fine", or "handsome". (Both morphemes are somewhat archaic in Modern Welsh.) Iolo Goch
Iolo Goch (c. 1320 – c. 1398) (meaning ''Iolo the Red'' in English) was a medieval Welsh bard who composed poems addressed to Owain Glyndŵr, among others. Lineage Iolo was the son of Ithel Goch ap Cynwrig ap Iorwerth Ddu ap Cynwrig Ddewis Herod ap Cywryd and was born in the manor of Lleweni in the Vale of Clwyd where his father rented a small portion of the family's ancient patrimony, possessed a dwelling house and also rented small parcels of land belonging to the manors of Llechryd and Berain, near Denbigh. A local 19th-century source says Iolo lived at a certain "Coed y Pantwn in Llechryd". George Borrow refers to this but mislocates it in the upper Clwyd valley.Borrow, George H. Iolo Ceredig Jones (2 August 1947-6th September 2021) was a Welsh former international chess player born in Llandysul. He is notable as the co-author of the only Welsh language chess manual, , which he wrote with his father, T. Llew Jones. Jones was the joint Welsh champion in 1982–3. Iolo Tudur Williams (; ; born 22 August 1962) is a Welsh ornithologist, nature observer, television presenter and author, best known for his BBC and S4C nature programmes, working in both English and his first language of Welsh. After a 14-year career with the RSPB, in 1999 Williams became a full-time TV presenter. He has written a number of books about the natural world. Biography Williams was born in Builth Wells, Breconshire, but his family moved to Pembrokeshire, before moving to Montgomeryshire, when he was aged five, to live in Llanwddyn near Lake Vyrnwy. Educated at Llanfyllin High School, after gaining two A-Levels in Biology and French, he almost joined the British Army but instead went to the North East London Polytechnic (now the University of East London), graduating with a degree in Ecology.
