George Inwood
George Walter Inwood, GC (22 September 1905 – 16 October 1940) was a soldier of the British Home Guard during the Second World War who was posthumously awarded the George Cross for the "highest form of cool courage and self-sacrifice for others" he displayed on the night of the 15/16 October 1940 during the Birmingham Blitz. Early life Inwood was born on 22 September 1905, the son of George Walter Inwood (also known as William Thomas Inwood) and Margaret Caroline (née Jones) and was baptised in St. Martin's, Birmingham, on 11 October 1905. He is buried in plot 46739 of Yardley Cemetery in Birmingham. Glenn Hema Inwood (born 1968) is a right-wing New Zealand public relations specialist and the founder of Omeka Public Relations. His duties with the Wellington-based Omeka include acting as the speaker for the Institute of Cetacean Research, the Japanese organisation that lobbies on behalf of the whaling industry. Henry William Inwood (22 May, 1794 – 20 March, 1843) was an English architect, archaeologist, classical scholar and writer. He was the joint architect, with his father William Inwood of St Pancras New Church. Biography He was the son of the architect William Inwood, with whom he collaborated on a number of churches, including St Pancras New Church (1819–22), the commission for which was won in an open competition. John Summerson believed that he was the main designer of St Pancras – which he describes as a "skilful and mature work" – his father not having previously designed any architecturally ambitious buildings. The design drew closely on Ancient Greek models, imitating elements from the Erechtheum and the Tower of the Winds in Athens. Inwood had not been to Greece at the time the initial design was submitted in May 1818, but travelled there soon afterward, making careful observations of the buildings on which St Pancras was based. Roy Inwood
Reginald Roy Inwood, VC (14 July 189023 October 1971) was an Australian soldier and recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in battle that could be awarded to a member of the Australian armed forces at the time. Inwood enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in August 1914, and along with the rest of the 10th Battalion, he landed at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli, on 25 April 1915. He fought at Anzac until being evacuated sick to Egypt in September. He remained there until he rejoined his unit on the Western Front in June 1916. In August, he fought in the Battle of Mouquet Farm. In 1917, Inwood was with his battalion when it fought in the Battle of Lagnicourt in April, then the Second Battle of Bullecourt the following month. During the Battle of Menin Road in September, he was involved in the elimination of a German machine-gun post and other actions, for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross. Richard Neil Inwood (4 March 1946 - 14 April 2019) was a Bishop suffragan of Bedford.
