Interstate 69 (I-69) is a proposed Interstate Highway that will pass through the northwestern part of the US state of Louisiana. Route description In Louisiana, I-69 would head from the Texas state line near Logansport in a northeasterly direction to intersect I-49 near Stonewall in DeSoto Parish, north of Mansfield. It will then head north to the east of Shreveport to skirt along the southern and eastern edges of Barksdale Air Force Base. It will then intersect I-20 near Haughton in Bossier Parish and then turn northeast and pass Minden, Haynesville, and Shongaloo. Among officials working for this route was Mayor Dennis Freeman of Logansport in DeSoto Parish, who served from 1984 until his death in 2007. Minden, Louisiana
Minden is a city and parish seat in Webster Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is located twenty-eight miles east of Shreveport. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 13,082. History Minden was established in 1836 by Charles Veeder. Native sons include Gene Austin and Louis Dunbar. The town's name is derived from the German city of Minden. During the Civil War, a large Confederate encampment was located inside of Minden. It housed about 15,000 Confederate soldiers. The town served as a supply depot for the Confederate Army. Close to thirty Confederate soldiers who died in the Battles of Mansfield and Pleasant Hill are buried in the Old Minden Cemetery. The Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) was a proposal for a transportation network in the U.S. State of Texas that was conceived to be composed of a new kind of transportation modality known as supercorridors. The TTC was initially proposed in 2001 and after considerable controversy was discontinued by 2010 in the planning and early construction stages. The network, as originally envisioned, would have been composed of a network of supercorridors up to wide to carry parallel links of tollways, rails, and utility lines.
