''Interplay'' is a 1963 album by jazz musician Bill Evans. It was recorded in July 1962 in New York City for Riverside Records. ''The Interplay Sessions'' is a 1982 Milestone album that includes the entirety of this album, and tracks recorded for Riverside on August 21 and 22 of the same year with a different lineup (with Zoot Sims and Ron Carter, and without Freddie Hubbard and Percy Heath). ''The Interplay Sessions'' peaked at number 26 on the ''Billboard'' Jazz Albums charts in 1983. The CD reissue ''Interplay'' adds another take of "I'll Never Smile Again" as a bonus track. At the Grammy Awards of 1984, Orrin Keepnews won the Grammy Award for Best Album Notes for the reissue. Reception Writing for Allmusic, music critic Scott Yanow called the album "Excellent music." John Stein (guitarist)
John Stein is a jazz guitarist and teacher from Kansas City, Missouri. Career A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Stein took his first guitar lesson when he was seven and his first jazz lesson when he was thirteen. In 1967, he attended Beloit College, but he dropped out and moved to Vermont. He worked in local clubs playing rock music, then took jazz lessons from a pianist. When he was thirty, he attended the Berklee College of Music and taught there after he graduated. He received a master's degree in education from Harvard and also plays double bass. His first album, ''Hustle Up!'', was released in 1995. Stein considers Wes Montgomery and Jim Hall his two biggest influences. One of his favorite albums since childhood is ''Getz/Gilberto'', released in 1964 by Stan Getz, João Gilberto, and Antônio Carlos Jobim. Larry Santos
Larry Santos (born June 2, 1941, in Oneonta, New York) is an American pop music singer-songwriter. Santos wrote songs for several American pop bands in the 1960s, including the 1963 hit " Candy Girl" for The Four Seasons which reached number 3 on ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. In the mid-Sixties, he recorded singles as part of a group called The Madisons, and then under his own name. He released three albums in the 1970s and scored one pop hit single, produced by Don Davis, " We Can't Hide it Anymore", which peaked on April 10, 1976, at number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100. From 1976 to 1980 Santos starred in the television show ''Hot Fudge'', a syndicated children's puppet show broadcast from Detroit, Michigan. Interplay Records is a jazz record company and label founded by Toshiya Taenaka in association with Fred Norseworthy in Los Angeles in 1977 which released several notable albums by Warne Marsh, Al Haig, Sal Mosca, Horace Tapscott, and Ted Curson. ''Interplay'' is a ballet in one act made by Jerome Robbins, subsequently ballet master of New York City Ballet, for Billy Rose's Concert Varieties to Morton Gould's 1945 ''American Concertette''. Interplay Europe
Interplay Europe is one of the most important festivals for young playwrights in Europe. It is organized by Interplay; an international, not-for-profit arts organisation for the furtherance of young playwrights aged 18 to 26. It was founded in Sydney in 1985. Every two years Interplay organises the largest and most prestigious festival of its kind, World Interplay, in Australia. Every other year a European country hosts Interplay Europe. The first Interplay Europe was held in 1995 in Mainz organized by the playwrights Antje Rávic Strubel and Tobias Rausch and Interplay Europe e.V became official in 1998, which was also in Berlin. World Interplay
World Interplay is the largest festival of young playwrights in the world. It is the peak activity of the Interplay organisation, and is held for two weeks every two years in Townsville, Australia. The first World Interplay was held in Sydney in 1985. The 10th festival was held 3–17 July 2007. The 2007 Festival Director was the Australian theatre director David Berthold. The 11th Festival was held in Cairns, QLD 2009. The 2009 Festival Director was Australian theatre director Kate Gaul. 40 playwrights aged between 18 and 26 came from across Australia, China, Croatia, England, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Indonesia, Kenya, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Switzerland, Turkey, and the USA. ''Interplay'' was a gaming magazine published from 1981 to 1982 by Metagaming Concepts. Contents ''Interplay'' was a magazine focusing on Metagaming products exclusively, particularly ''The Fantasy Trip''. Publication history After Metagaming Concepts had sold off ''The Space Gamer'', they later began publishing a new periodical: ''Interplay: The Metagamer Diaries'' #1 (May/June 1981).
