Internetmuseum
Internetmuseum is a Swedish digital museum opened in 2014. In June 2016 Internetmuseum was inducted to The Association of Swedish Museums (Riksförbundet Sveriges museer) as the first entirely digital museum. Internetmuseum is run by the independent organization The Internet Foundation in Sweden (Internetstiftelsen i Sverige) and features a mix of technology, politics, and internet culture. The ambition of the museum is to spread knowledge of the Swedish history of Internet and to preserve the digital heritage. The Internet Foundation In Sweden
The Swedish Internet Foundation is an independent public-service organisation that acts to ensure positive development of the internet. The foundation is based in Sweden and is responsible for the internet's Swedish top-level domain, .se, and the operation of the .nu top-level domain, that of Niue. It is also a public-service organization that operates identity federations, which comprise secure and scalable solutions for account and password management. These create the preconditions to facilitate work with digital processes within healthcare and schools in Sweden. The Swedish Internet Foundation's charter states that any surplus should be used to improve the stability of internet infrastructure in Sweden and to promote research, training and education with a focus on the internet. A virtual museum is a digital entity that draws on the characteristics of a museum, in order to complement, enhance, or augment the museum experience through personalization, interactivity, and richness of content. Virtual museums can perform as the digital footprint of a physical museum, or can act independently, while maintaining the authoritative status as bestowed by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in its definition of a museum. The history of Internet in Sweden can be considered to have begun in 1984, when the first Swedish network was connected to the Internet in Gothenburg. In the past, however, were data links between some colleges and universities with access via modem and UUCP to the European part of the Internet.
