Internationale Gartenausstellung 2017
The Internationale Gartenausstellung 2017 (IGA 2017) was an international horticultural exhibition that took place in Berlin, Germany, in 2017. History History of the site The venue is the area surrounding the Kienberg that was originally known as ''Berliner Gartenschau''. This was the horticultural exposition held in 1987, in that times in East Germany, in commemoration of the 750th birthday of the city of Berlin. In 1991, after German reunification the park was renamed to '' Erholungspark Marzahn'' and expanded afterwards. During the years 2000 - 2006 several gardens modeled after Asian examples were added. Since 2007 gardens modelled after European examples followed. In 2013 works began to prepare for the IGA 2017. Transport The nearest metro station is Kienberg (Gärten der Welt), on the U5 line which was named "Neue Grottkauer Straße" until 2016, when it was renamed for the upcoming event. Berlin U-Bahn
The Berlin U-Bahn (; short for , "underground railway") is a rapid transit system in Berlin, the capital and largest city of Germany, and a major part of the city's public transport system. Kienberg (Gärten Der Welt) (Berlin U-Bahn)
Kienberg (Gärten der Welt) is a station on the U-Bahn in the German capital city of Berlin. It is located on the line. Location The underground station is located in the section east of the Hellersdorfer Straße. It has a central platform, which is continuously covered by a one-piece reinforced concrete structure. The color of the station, which can be found on the roof supports and in the entrance area, is gray. There are outputs at both ends; in the south via a pedestrian bridge to Hellersdorfer Straße and Erich-Kästner-Straße and in the north to Neue Grottkauer Straße. The latter also has a ramp for barrier-free access, which was supplemented by a lift in the course of the construction work on the occasion of the International Garden Exhibition 2017 in December 2016. U5 (Berlin U-Bahn)
U5 is a line on the Berlin U-Bahn. It runs from Hauptbahnhof in Mitte eastwards through Alexanderplatz, Friedrichshain, Lichtenberg and Friedrichsfelde, surfaces in to pass Kaulsdorf and Hellersdorf above ground and finally reaches city limits at Hönow. Route Line U5 connects Moabit with the large housing estate of Hellersdorf and the Brandenburg town of Hönow, but ends just outside the eastern city limits of Berlin. It begins at Berlin Hauptbahnhof (central station) and heads southeast under the Spree river, the Spreebogenpark and the Platz der Republik to Brandenburg Gate. From there it follows Unter den Linden, crossing line 6 at Friedrichstraße. After Museumsinsel station, the line runs under Rathausstraße, passing under the Humboldt Forum. Aerial Tramway
An aerial tramway, sky tram, cable car, ropeway, aerial tram, telepherique, or seilbahn is a type of aerial lift which uses one or two stationary ropes for support while a third moving rope provides propulsion.
