International Marketing And Purchasing Group
The Industrial Marketing and Purchasing Group or International Marketing and Purchasing Group (abbreviated IMP Group) is a European research initiative in the field of Industrial marketing established in 1976 by researchers from different countries and universities in Europe. It has evolved into an "informal international group of scholars concerned with developing concepts and knowledge in the field of business-to-business marketing and purchasing." The group is also called the Nordic school of marketing. Industrial marketing (or business-to-business marketing) is the marketing of goods and services by one business to another. Industrial goods are those an industry uses to produce an end product from one or more raw material. The term, ''industrial marketing'' has largely been replaced by the term ''B2B'' marketing (i.e. business to business marketing). Origins and usage Historically, the marketing discipline made a distinction between industrial marketing and consumer goods marketing. David Ford (marketing Scientist)
David Ford (born 1944) is a British organizational theorist, Professor Emeritus at the University of Bath School of Management, and co-founder of the International Marketing and Purchasing Group (IMP Group) in the mid 1970s. He is known for his work with Håkan Håkansson on business networks. Biography Ford obtained his BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Salford, his MSc at the University of Bradford, and his PhD at the Manchester Business School. In 2007 he was awarded an Honorary Degree from the Uppsala Universitet, Sweden for developing "a worldwide system for improving the way companies interact with customers and suppliers." Christian Grönroos (born 16 January 1947) is a Finnish academic focused on service and relationship marketing. His research interest is to "develop marketing based on a service logic: promise management and marketing; transforming manufacturing into service business." Nicholas Jackson O'Shaughnessy is a British academic. He is professor of communications and of post- Cold War German history at Queen Mary, University of London. The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) was a university based in the centre of the city of Manchester in England.
