International League Of Religious Socialists
The International League of Religious Socialists is an umbrella organization of religious socialist movements in political parties throughout the world. Founded in the 1920s, it has member groups in 20 countries totaling 200,000 members. For most of its history, it was mainly European and contained mainly Christian socialist groups, but has recently expanded to the Americas, Africa, and Australia to include more groups with connections to other religions. It is an associate organisation of Socialist International. Religious Socialism
Religious socialism is a type of socialism based on religious values. Members of several major religions have found that their beliefs about human society fit with socialist principles and ideas. As a result, religious socialist movements have developed within these religions. Those movements include Buddhist socialism, Christian socialism, Islamic socialism, and Jewish socialism. According to the ''Encyclopedia Britannica Online'', socialism is a "social and economic doctrine that calls for public rather than private ownership or control of property and natural resources. According to the socialist view, individuals do not live or work in isolation but live in cooperation with one another. Carlos Tünnerman
Carlos Tünnerman Bernheim (born May 10, 1933) is a Nicaraguan lawyer, diplomat, government official and educator. He is a former Minister of Education in Nicaragua, serving during the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) government from 1979 to 1984. He next became Nicaragua’s ambassador to the United States and then to the Organization of American States (OAS), from 1984 to 1988. Tünnerman’s father had been head of the Nicaraguan Central Bank. A lawyer by training, Tünnerman defended Tomás Borge after the 1956 assassination of President Anastasio Somoza Garcia. Willem Banning
Willem Banning ( Makkum, 21 February 1888 – Driebergen, 7 January 1971) was a Dutch theologian, philosopher, sociologist and politician, who played an important role in Dutch 20th-century politics. Personal life Banning was born the son of Jan Banning, a herring fisherman, and Aafke Canrinus. Thanks to his school teacher in elementary school he was able to attend a teachers college (''Rijksnormaalschool'') in Haarlem, where he received his teachers certificate in 1907.
