The International Housewares Association is a not-for-profit, full-service trade organization that has been promoting the sales and marketing of housewares since 1938. The association has more than 1,600 member companies from more than 40 countries. It is well-known for its annual The Inspired Home Show that is held in March at McCormick Place in Chicago. Member services include industry and government advocacy, export assistance, state of the industry reports, a quarterly newsletter with POS and consumer panel data, executive management peer groups and group discounts for business solution services. McCormick Place
McCormick Place is the largest convention center in North America. It consists of four interconnected buildings and one indoor arena sited on and near the shore of Lake Michigan, about south of downtown Chicago, Illinois, United States. McCormick Place hosts numerous trade shows and meetings. Housewares Design Awards
The Housewares Design Awards is an American annual product design award competition focused on the housewares industry. The competition was introduced in 2003 by ''HomeWorld Business'', a housewares industry trade publication. The Housewares Design Awards attracts hundreds of product entries each year. These entries are evaluated by an independent panel of judges made up of designers and retailer buyers, a process managed by the Housewares Design Awards LLC. Contest criteria include unique appearance, functionality, positioning, innovative technology or materials, safety, environmental benefits, emotional appeal, social impact and the ability to meet consumer needs. Twelve “Best in Category” Awards and three “Best of the Best” awards are presented at the gold, silver and bronze levels.
