International Carnivorous Plant Society
The International Carnivorous Plant Society (ICPS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1972. It is the International Cultivar Registration Authority for carnivorous plants. As of June 2011, the society had around 1400 members. A 501(c) organization is a nonprofit organization in the Law of the United States#Federal law, federal law of the United States according to Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. § 501(c)) and is one of over 29 types of nonprofit organizations exempt from some Taxation in the United States, federal Income tax in the United States, income taxes. Nepenthes Khasiana
''Nepenthes khasiana'' (; after the Khasi Hills, to which it is largely endemic) is an endangered tropical pitcher plant of the genus ''Nepenthes''. It is the only ''Nepenthes'' species native to India. It is thought to attract prey by means of blue fluorescence. The species has a very localised distribution and is rare in the wild. But with new advancement in agro-technology and tissue culture, it is now being cultivated in campus of Nagaland University, Nagaland. These Pitcher Plants which are endemic to Meghalaya can be seen widely as decorative plants outside many houses of Nagaland. North American Sarracenia Conservancy
The North American Sarracenia Conservancy (NASC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to habitat conservation. Founded in 2005, the Conservancy was granted tax-exempt status in January 2009. The main focus of the Conservancy is the conservation and preservation of the natural habitats and genetic diversity of the ''Sarracenia'' pitcher plants. Pitcher Plant
Pitcher plants are several different carnivorous plants which have modified leaves known as pitfall traps—a prey-trapping mechanism featuring a deep cavity filled with digestive liquid. The traps of what are considered to be "true" pitcher plants are formed by specialized leaves. The plants attract and drown their prey with nectar.
