International Arts And Entertainment Alliance
The International Arts and Entertainment Alliance (IAEA) is a global union federation (GUF) representing trade unions of performers and technicians in the music and audiovisual sectors. The alliance has three sections: the International Federation of Actors (FIA), the International Federation of Musicians (FIM), and the Media, Entertainment and Arts section of the UNI Global Union (UNI-MEI). Trade unions affiliate to the appropriate section; 90 unions hold membership of the International Federation of Actors, and 70 unions hold membership of the International Federation of Musicians. Council Of Global Unions
Global Unions or Council of Global Unions is a website, which is jointly owned and managed by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD, and ten global union federations (GUFs). Formation In November 2006, two international union organizations were created, the ITUC and the Council of Global Unions that emerged from a reorganization of the international trade union movement (which was divided because of post-war divisions). ITUC is the result of the breakup of both the WCL and ICFTU for the purposes of uniting under one organisation. Gerry Morrissey
Gerry Anthony Morrissey (born 12 April 1960) is an Irish-born British trade unionist and was the head of the BECTU sector of the Prospect union up until his retirement in 2018. He was succeeded by Philippa Childs. Born in Tipperary, Ireland, Morrissey attended the local Christian Brothers school. He began his career as a catering buyer at the BBC, joining the Association of Broadcasting Staff in 1977. He became prominent in the union as it underwent a series of mergers to form the Broadcasting, Entertainment, Cinematograph and Theatre Union (BECTU). In 1998, he became one of BECTU's two Assistant General Secretaries. In February 2007, he was elected General Secretary without opposition. He is married with two children. From 2011, Morrissey also served as the President of the Union Network International's Media and Entertainment International section. Global Union Federation
A global union federation (GUF) is an international federation of national trade unions organizing in specific industry sectors or occupational groups. Historically, such federations in the social democratic tradition described as international trade secretariats (ITS),. while those in the Christian democratic tradition described themselves as international trade federations. Equivalent sectoral bodies linked to the World Federation of Trade Unions described themselves as Trade Union Internationals. Many unions are members of one or more global union federations, relevant to the sectors where they have their members. Individual unions may also be affiliated to a national trade union centre, which in turn can be affiliated to the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) or the WFTU. History The federation was established in 1952, on the initiative of British Actors' Equity Association, and the Syndicat Français des Artistes-Inteprètes. It has affiliated unions in 150 countries representing 20 million workers. The head office is in Nyon, Switzerland. UNI Global Union ratified over 50 Global Framework Agreements with multinational corporation as of 2021.
