Internal Security Organisation
The Internal Security Organisation (ISO) is the Uganda Government of Uganda, government's counter intelligence agency responsible for providing national security intelligence to Uganda's policy makers. It also engages in covert activities at the request of the President of Uganda. Founded in 1986, the organisation took over the duties first performed by Military Intelligence. Its headquarters are in Nakasero, Kampala. History and function ISO was established by an Act of Parliament, the Security Organisations Act 1987. Like all intelligence organisations, its main function is to ensure the stability and longevity of the state. It does this through monitoring priority government programmes that are critical to the well-being of the state, as well as collecting intelligence on locally based groups engaging in or intending to engage in acts of subversion, sabotage or destabilising the country. External Security Organisation
The External Security Organisation (ESO) is a government agency, mandated to collect, analyse and process information related to external security threats.Its objective is informing national policy makers in Uganda. Its headquarters are located in a three-story office building that the agency owns on Hannington Road, on Nakasero Hill, in Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. Overview ESO was established by an Act of Parliament, the Security Organisations Act 1987. The agency focuses on the assessment of external security threats to Uganda. Charles Oluka
Charles Oluka (died 29 January 2025) was an officer at the rank of Brigadier general in the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF). He was the Director General of the Internal Security Organisation, from 8 October 2020 until his death on 29 January 2025. Before that, he served as the Director of technical services at the spy agency until 2018. Military career On 8 October 2020, President Yoweri Museveni appointed him as the substantive Director general of the Internal Security Organisation. Ronnie Balya (born 1961) is a Ugandan military officer currently serving at the rank of Brigadier General in the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF).
