Interim Uttarakhand Assembly
The Interim Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly also known as Antarim Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha was a unicameral governing and law making body of the newly formed Indian state of Uttarakhand (then ''Uttaranchal''). As a Provisional Legislative Assembly it came into existence with the formation of the State of Uttarakhand at 9 November 2000 which was later succeeded by the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly with the first assembly election that took place on February 14th, 2002. It was at that time consisted with total 30 Members including 22 Members of the Legislative Assembly and 8 Members of the Legislative Council from the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council of Uttar Pradesh, off which then Uttarakhand was formed out. The Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, also known as the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha, is a unicameral governing and law making body of Uttarakhand, one of the 28 states of India. It is seated at Dehradun, the winter capital, and Bhararisain, the summer capital of Uttarakhand. The total strength of the assembly is 70 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). As of March 2022, Pushkar Singh Dhami is the current Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Leader of the House in the 5th Vidhan Sabha. The Speaker of the Assembly is Ritu Khanduri Bhushan. Member Of The Legislative Assembly (India)
A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's bicameral parliament. There are also members in three unicameral legislatures in Union Territories: the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the Puducherry Legislative Assembly. Only a Member of the Legislative Assembly can work as a minister for more than 6 months. Indira Hridayesh
Indira Hridayesh (24 March 1941 – 13 June 2021) was an Indian politician, from the state of Uttarakhand. She was a member of the Indian National Congress party. Hridayesh was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council for four terms, from 1974 to 2000. She was elected to the Uttarakahand Legislative Assembly in 2002, 2012, and 2017, and between 2002 and 2017, was the State Finance Minister for Uttarakhand. From 2017 onward, she was the leader of the Opposition for the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Biography Hridayesh was born on 24 March 1941, either in Allahabad or in Pilbhit, in Uttar Pradesh, according to sources. Her family was from Dasauli, in Uttar Pradesh. She had a master's degree and a doctorate. She had three sons. She was diagnosed with COVID-19, and underwent cardiac surgery in 2021. She died on 13 June 2021, of cardiac arrest. The State Legislative Assembly, or Vidhan Sabha, or also Saasana Sabha, is a legislative body in the states and union territories of India. In the 28 states and 3 union territories with a unicameral state legislature, it is the sole legislative body and in 6 states it is the lower house of their bicameral state legislatures with the upper house being State Legislative Council. 5 union territories are governed directly by the Union Government of India and have no legislative body. Each Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is directly elected to serve 5-year terms by single-member constituencies.
