Intercambiador
The Intercambiador (aka Tenerife Transport Interchange) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital of Tenerife, combines the main station of the TITSA public bus service with light rail line 1, FerryBus and a parking for private vehicles. The station was opened on 17 June 2006. It is located on Avenida Tres de Mayo in the centre of Santa Cruz. The facility is a major, six-level Park-and-Ride that with an area of 66,235 square metres. There are 1,416 private vehicle spaces, and the Interchange accommodates nine million passengers a year, with approximately 3,500 daily bus arrivals and departures to all points of the island. Tenerife Tram
Tenerife Tram ( es, Tranvía de Tenerife) is a light rail or tram service located on the island of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands in Spain. It is operated by Metropolitano de Tenerife, a limited company now 100% owned by Cabildo de Tenerife. Service started on 2 June 2007 over a route that linked the Intercambiador in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (City), Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Avenida de la Trinidad in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, La Laguna. A second line between La Cuesta and Tíncer opened in 2009 (connecting with Line 1 at Hospital Universitario and El Cardonal). It is the only existing tramway or train in the Canary Islands. TITSA
TITSA is the ''Transportes interurbanos de Tenerife, S.A.'' which operates the only public bus service in Tenerife, on the Canary Islands. It carries over 60 million travellers a year in a fleet of approximately 600 vehicles. History In 1884, the Omnibus Company started a bus line between Santa Cruz and La Laguna operating a single one-horse open carriage. By 1885 they had the four and six horse stagecoaches, with an additional line from Santa Cruz to La Orotava. In 1898, development of the electric tram system began, with the inaugural trip in 1901. Soon the tram replaced horses on the existing lines, and a new line was built from Santa Cruz to Icod de los Vinos. In 1904 track was laid from La Laguna to Tacoronte. By 1950, the company had 21 km of track, with four stationhouses: Santa Cruz, La Cuesta, La Laguna and Tacoronte. By 1959 it was all abandoned; bus service had replaced the trams.
