Inter-Services Intelligence Activities In The United States
The Inter–Services Intelligence (abbreviated as ISI) has been alleged or previously documented by various authors of running an active military intelligence program in the United States, as well as operational activities related to America outside the country. 2000s Some authors have alleged the ISI of supporting the 1999 release of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, who was subsequently convicted of the 2002 beheading of ''Wall Street Journal'' reporter Daniel Pearl. The ISI has reportedly been suspicious about CIA's attempted penetration of Pakistani nuclear assets, and CIA's alleged intelligence gathering in the Pakistan's tribal areas along the Afghan border. Based on these suspicions, it was speculated that the ISI was pursuing counter-intelligence against CIA operations in Pakistan and Afghanistan. On 15 August 1947, one day after the independence of Pakistan through the partition of British India, the United States became one of the first nations to establish relations with Pakistan. The relations are a very important factor in the United States government's overall policy in South and Central Asia as well as Eastern Europe. Ahmad Shuja Pasha
Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha ( ur, ), HI(M) (born 18 March 1952) is a retired three-star rank army general of the Pakistan Army. He was the director-general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the main intelligence service of Pakistan from October 2008 until March 2012. He was due to reach the age of superannuation on 18 March 2010 but received an extension of one year. and retired in March 2012. Pasha was replaced by Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam. In 2011, Pasha was named as one of the world's 100 most influential people by ''Time'' magazine.
