Intelligence Services Act, 1994
The Intelligence Services Act (also ''National Strategic Intelligence Act'') was legislation revamping the intelligence agencies of the Republic of South Africa, passed by the National Assembly on 2 December 1994. The legislation established new intelligence agencies, dismantling those used to enforced the Apartheid regime. New institutions were established under a system designed to respect and protect civil liberties, promote transparency and de-politicize South Africa's security agencies. Intelligence assessment, or simply intel, is the development of behavior forecasts or recommended courses of action to the leadership of an organisation, based on wide ranges of available overt and covert information (intelligence). Assessments develop in response to leadership declaration requirements to inform decision-making. South African Intelligence Agencies

South African Department Of Intelligence Services
The Minister of State Security (formerly the Minister of Intelligence Services) was a Minister of the South African government, who oversaw South Africa's civilian intelligence agencies and national security matters. In 2021 the ministry was abolished and the function of the minister was taken over by the Presidency. Formation In 1994, the intelligence service affairs were subordinated to the Minister of Justice. In 1995, Joe Nhlanhla became Deputy Minister of Justice with responsibility for intelligence affairs. When Jacob Zuma was elected president in 2009 he renamed the post to Minister of State Security, but kept Siyabonga Cwele in the job. The South African Police Service (SAPS) is the national police force of the Republic of South Africa. Its 1,154 police stations in South Africa are divided according to the provincial borders, and a Provincial Commissioner is appointed in each province. The South African Secret Service (SASS) was the previous name of a South African intelligence agency. Currently, it is known as the Foreign Branch of the State Security Agency. It is responsible for all non-military foreign intelligence and for counterintelligence within the Service itself.
