Integrity Management Plan
Integrity Management Plan (part of an asset integrity management system) is a documented and systematic approach to ensure the long-term integrity of an asset or assets. Integrity management planning is a process for assessing and mitigating risks in an effort to reduce both the likelihood and consequences of incidents. Asset integrity plans are maintained and reviewed regularly so that they: *Optimize operational and capital expenditures *Ensure adoption of best-in-class practices *Assist management of risk *Increase shareholder, senior management, regulator and public confidence *Identify risks, conducting assessments, taking preventive actions and implementing mitigate measures An effective IMP should contain: *A process outline – details the process envelope (temperature pressure and velocity) in which the system operates and any critical parameters that must be followed. Asset Integrity Management Systems
Asset Integrity Management Systems (AIMS) outline the ability of an asset to perform its required function effectively and efficiently whilst protecting health, safety and the environment and the means of ensuring that the people, systems, processes, and resources that deliver integrity are in place, in use and will perform when required over the whole life-cycle of the asset. The technical aspects of AIMS are illustrated in Figure 1. Originally developed in the UK, Asset Integrity Management was the result of a collaboration between the HSE and leading oil and gas operators resulting in a series of reports (Belfry Report) and workshops, the outcome being a group of documents called Key Programmes (KP Series), currently publicly available. Responsibility Assignment Matrix
A responsibility assignment matrix (RAM), also known as RACI matrix () or linear responsibility chart (LRC), describes the participation by various roles in completing tasks or deliverables for a project or business process. RACI is an acronym derived from the four key responsibilities most typically used: ''responsible'', ''accountable'', ''consulted'', and ''informed''. It is used for clarifying and defining roles and responsibilities in cross-functional or departmental projects and processes. There are a number of alternatives to the RACI model. Process Safety
Process safety focuses on preventing fires, explosions and chemical accidents in chemical process facilities or other facilities dealing with hazardous materials such as refineries, and oil and gas ( onshore and offshore) production installations. Occupational safety and health primarily covers the management of personal safety. Well developed management systems also address process safety issues. The tools, techniques, programs etc. required to manage both process and occupational safety can sometimes be the same (for example a work permit system) and in other cases may have very different approaches. LOPA (Layers of Protection Analysis) or QRA ( Quantified Risk Assessment) for example focus on process safety whereas PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is very much an individual focused occupational safety issue. Integrity Engineering Audit
An Integrity Engineering Audit is carried out within an Integrity engineering function so as to ensure compliance with international, national and company specific standards and regulations. It is carried out in order to prove that the system is compliant, transparent, effective and efficient. API Recommended Practice 580, Risk-Based Inspection (see American Petroleum Institute) outlines such an audit as part of a Risk Based Inspection program. It checks that the most efficient and cost effective implementation of inspections and integrity management programs are being carried out.
