Institute Of Chartered Chemists Of Nigeria
The Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) is a professional regulatory body, established by Decree 91 of 1993 (now ICCON ACT, CAP I.12 LFN 2004). It is statutorily charged with the responsibility of regulating the teaching, learning and best practice of Chemistry profession in Nigeria. ICCON is a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH). History Creation Since 1946 when the first chemistry graduate, the late Professor Stephen Oluwole Awokoya, earned his B.Sc. from the University of London, the country has produced generations of chemists for various sectors of the economy. Chief Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Ogunboye Aremu Obasanjo, , ( ; yo, Olúṣẹ́gun Ọbásanjọ́ ; born 5 March 1937) is a Nigerian political and military leader who served as Nigeria's head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as its president from 1999 to 2007. Gabriel Babatunde Ogunmola is a Nigerian Professor of Chemistry and Chancellor of Lead City University, Ibadan. Education and career Professor Ogunmola obtained a bachelor and doctorate in chemistry from the University of Ibadan in 1965 and 1968 respectively. In July 1968, he joined the department of Chemistry, University of Ibadan as a postdoctoral research fellow and in 1969, he left the UI to join the University of Pennsylvania as a postdoctoral research fellow at Johnson Research Foundation, Department of Biophysics and Medical Physics. Oluwole Babafemi Familoni
Oluwole Babafemi Familoni is a professor of Chemistry at the University of Lagos and member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria. Between 2000 and 2002, he was the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Lagos. He was appointed the Head of the Department of Chemistry between 2002 and 2005. Umaru Musa Yar'Adua (16 August 19515 May 2010) was a Nigerian politician who, was the President of Nigeria from 2007 to 2010. He was declared the winner of the Nigerian presidential election held on 21 April 2007, and was sworn in on 29 May 2007. He served previously as the governor of Katsina state from 1999 to 2007; and was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Babatunde Osotimehin (6 February 1949 – 4 June 2017) was a Nigerian physician, who served as Minister of Health, and in 2011 became the executive director of the United Nations Population Fund, holding the rank of Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, reappointed in August 2014 until his death.
