The Institute of Health Sciences was established in 2005 by Lawrence Dann and his wife, Suzanne Laurie. The college offered numerous part-time and short courses such as nutritional therapy and nutrition coaching. This education facility offered students certificate and diploma courses for those wishing to pursue a career in nutritional sciences and health. In December 2022, the college announced its closure after 17 years due to a downturn in student applications, leading to the college’s liquidation. Nutritional science is the study of nutrition, though it typically emphasizes human nutrition. The type of organism determines what nutrients it needs and how it obtains them. Organisms obtain nutrients by consuming organic matter, consuming inorganic matter, absorbing light, or some combination of these. Some can produce nutrients internally by consuming basic elements, while some must consume other organisms to obtain preexisting nutrients. All forms of life require carbon, energy, and water as well as various other molecules.
