Institut National Des Arts De Bamako
The Institut National des Arts de Bamako (INA) is a national school for the arts in Bamako, Mali. It was the only school of its kind in Mali until 2004. Originally set up to train Sudanese artisans, it now offers courses in jewellery making and design, illustration, painting, sculpture, photography, music, and theatre. It has produced many of Mali’s most well-known artists and has hosted numerous exhibitions, workshops, and performances. Naming Over the history of its existence, many changes have affected the institute, including course offerings, faculty, and its name. Yaya Coulibaly
Youssouf Coulibaly (born 2 January 1993) is a Malian puppet designer, puppeteer and storyteller from Mali. Early life Born into a family of puppeteers, with roots in the Bamana, he began his initiation in the puppet and masquerade figures at the age of ten as an apprentice to his father. Later he studied art at the Institut National des Arts de Bamako, and puppet theatre at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette in Charleville-MéziÚres, France. Career In 1980 he formed his own puppet company, the Sogolon Puppet Troupe, and has since become the leading custodian of the Bambara puppetry tradition, the oldest and richest of Africa's surviving puppetry traditions. Habib Dembélé (born 19 April 1962) is a Malian actor, director, and author, and a candidate for the Malian Presidential elections of 2002 and 2018. Early life and education Dembélé attended to Malian Institut National des Arts de Bamako (INA) after a school diploma : Etudes Fondamentales (DEF). Career Dembélé is an actor, director, and author. Habib Koité
Habib KoitĂ© ( bm, , Habib Kuwatɛ, born 1958 in ThiĂšs, Senegal) is a Malian musician, singer, songwriter and griot based in Mali. His band, Bamada, was a supergroup of West African musicians, which included KĂ©lĂ©tigui DiabatĂ© on balafon. Musical style KoitĂ© is known primarily for his unique approach to playing the guitar by tuning it on a pentatonic scale and playing on open strings as one would on a kamale n'goni. His music is also influenced by blues or flamenco which are two styles he learned under Khalilou Traore. Abdoulaye KonatĂ© (1 February 1953) is a Malian artist. He was born in DirĂ©, Mali, DirĂ© and lives and works in Bamako, Mali, Bamako. KonatĂ© studied painting at the Institut National des Arts de Bamako and then at the Instituto Superior de Arte, Havana, Cuba. Malick Sidibé
Malick SidibĂ© (1935 – 14 April 2016) was a Malian photographer noted for his black-and-white studies of popular culture in the 1960s in Bamako.
