Inspired (album)
Filipino singer and actress Lea Salonga has released nine studio albums, three live recordings, and is involved in at least ten cast recordings. To date, Salonga has sold 19 million albums worldwide, making her one of the best-selling Southeast Asian artist of all time. She has scored two Top 10 albums on Billboard's Classical Crossover Albums chart. She is best known for her roles in musical theatre, for supplying the singing voices of two Disney Princesses, and as a recording artist and television performer. Shortly after starring as the title role in the Repertory Philippines production of Annie in 1980, 9-year-old Salonga released her debut singles, "Alphabet Song ('A' You're Adorable)" and "Thank You For The Music." Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga (; born February 22, 1971), known professionally as Lea Salonga, is a Filipino singer, actress, and columnist. Nicknamed "Pride of the Philippines," she is best known for her roles in musical theatre, for supplying the singing voices of two Disney Princesses ( Jasmine and Mulan), and as a recording artist and television performer. ''Once on This Island'' is a coming-of-age one-act stage musical with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty. ''Allegiance'' is a musical with music and lyrics by Jay Kuo and a book by Marc Acito, Kuo and Lorenzo Thione. The story, set during the Japanese American internment of World War II (with a framing story set in the present day), was inspired by the personal experiences of George Takei, who stars in the musical. It follows the Kimura family in the years following the attack on Pearl Harbor, as they are forced to leave their farm in Salinas, California and are sent to the Heart Mountain Relocation Center in the rural plains of Wyoming. ''Flower Drum Song'' was the eighth musical by the team of Rodgers and Hammerstein. It is based on the 1957 novel, ''The Flower Drum Song'', by Chinese-American author C. Y. Lee. ''Making Tracks'' is an Asian American musical theater production by Second Generation, a New York-based theater company, with music by Woody Pak, lyrics by Brian Yorkey, and concept and book by Welly Yang.
