Megan Washington
Megan Alexanda Washington (born 7 January 1986) is an Australian musician and songwriter who has worked mononymously as Washington. Originally performing jazz music, her style shifted to indie pop and alternative rock. She has released three studio albums, '' I Believe You Liar'' (July 2010), ''There There'' (September 2014) and '' Batflowers'' (August 2020). Both ''I Believe You Liar'' and ''There There'' reached the top 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart and ''Batflowers'' peaked in the top 25. Her music was described on I-D Vice as "sexy synth-laden pop" and in 2019 ''The Sydney Morning Herald''s Anna Rose said of her intimate tour run, that "Washington's impressive command of her relatively small stage gave proof her music can work anywhere, anyway, any time." Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, Independent record label, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. Mercury Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group. It had significant success as an independent operation in the 1940s and 1950s. Smash Records and Fontana Records were sub labels of Mercury. ''I Believe You Liar'' is the debut studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Washington. It was released on Mercury Records in Australia on 30 July 2010. The album peaked at number 3 on the ARIA Charts charts. At the J Awards of 2010, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year. Background ''I Believe You Liar'' is largely composed of tracks from Washington's previous three EP releases, ''Clementine'' (2008), '' How to Tame Lions'' (2009), and ''Rich Kids'' (2010). Out of the twelve tracks on the original Australian edition, five were included previously on these releases. Although the album somewhat lacked new material, it was a commercial success in Washington's native Australia, peaking at number 3 on the ARIA Albums Chart. ''There There'' is the second studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Megan Washington, the first crediting her full name. It was released in Australia on 12 September 2014. The album peaked at number 5 on the ARIA Charts. Background In August 2011, a year after the release of '' I Believe You Liar'', Washington moved to Brooklyn, following her dream to live in New York City. Washington said "I was dreadfully unhappy there. But having said that, I would have been dreadfully unhappy wherever I was. It was the result of a perfect storm of circumstances. I was just partying a lot and drinking a lot and going out and doing stuff. There was just no meaning. I couldn't find meaning in anything I was doing." Jarrad Kritzstein, (born September 9, 1987) also known as Jarrad K, is an American record producer, songwriter, filmmaker and actor. He is known for co-writing/producing Ruston Kelly’s debut LP “Dying Star” and Elohim’s self-titled album, “Elohim.” Early life and education Kritzstein was born in Orange County, California. Career As a young man, Kritzstein starred as Jimmy Kidd on the PBS television show ''Wishbone'', as well as voiced Tiny Tim in the animated ''A Christmas Carol''. Kritzstein has directed and produced various music videos for Baywood and Zak Waters, and has worked as a professional film/video editor from a very young age.
