''Inpress'' was a free weekly tabloid-sized music magazine (street press) that was published in Melbourne, and was released in the Geelong and Mornington Peninsula areas of Victoria, Australia. The magazine was published by Street Press Australia on a weekly basis every Wednesday. The magazine comprised three main sections: All music news, features and reviews fall under the ''Inpress'' banner, arts and film is covered by ''Interval'', and the central section is dance music/urban music and nightclubbing magazine ''Zebra'', which is also distributed separately from ''Inpress''. The magazine was created by Rowena Webber (later Sladdin) and Andrew Watt, with the first issue was released on 13 July 1988. Webber edited the magazine for the first nine years. Subsequent editors of the paper included Andrew Mast (Managing Editor), Shane O'Donohue (Editor), Kris Swales (''Zebra'' Editor) and Daniel Crichton-Rouse (''Interval'' Editor). Music Street Press Of Australia
Australia has had a long history of street press media, beginning in the 1980s. Most street press have been centred around music and gig guides, but subjects have also included movies, fashion, and food. Each major city in Australia had at least two music street press at some point, and they were at their most popular during the 1990s. During the height of their popularity most were initially tabloid size, and printed on newsprint with glossy covers. Later titles shrunk to A4 size magazine. ''Time Off'' was a free weekly tabloid-sized music magazine (street press) that was originally distributed in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The magazine began on campus in 1976 at the University of Queensland as an initiative of co-editors Rob Cameron and Bruce Dickson, and was originally printed on A4 glossy stock. While then circulated free on campus, it was simultaneously released for limited edition purchase through South-East Queensland newsagents. ''Beat'' is a free monthly tabloid-sized music magazine (street press) published and distributed in Melbourne, Australia. It was Melbourne's longest running street press, and one of the earliest street press after TAGG. ''Beat'' paused its print edition between March 2020-May 2022. History The magazine changes its name from ''Beat'' to ''Beat Magazine'' in 1989, reverted to ''Beat'' in 2000, and continues to refer to itself as ''Beat Magazine'' on their website. The magazine was founded as a weekly street press by Rob Furst and was printed by his company Furst Media. Between 1994 and 1998 a Sydney edition was printed, known as ''Beat : Sydney listings bible''. Frederick John Negro (born 1959) is an Australian satirist, musician, songwriter, and cartoonist. He has fronted numerous rock, punk and country bands. Biography Frederick John Negro was born in 1959 and grew up in Richmond. In 1979 Negro formed a post-punk group, The Editions, on drums with Roz Dear on vocals, John Durr on guitar and David Yob Hoban on bass guitar. By the following year Dear was replaced by Sherine Abeyratne on vocals. From 1981 to 1982 they issued three cassette albums, ''Aggression'', ''Recession'' and ''Obsession'', on their own label, Orgasm Records.
