are a Japanese female pop music duo of the late 1970s and early 1980s, featuring Mie (Mitsuyo Nemoto, born March 9, 1958) and Keiko Masuda (formerly Kei, born September 2, 1957). In Japan, they are remembered for a run of pop-chart hits from roughly 1976 to 1979, but in the United States, they are best known for their short-lived 1980 NBC TV variety show '' Pink Lady'', later released on DVD under the title ''Pink Lady and Jeff.'' Pink Lady is one of only two Japanese artists to have reached the ''Billboard'' Top 40, hitting No. 37 with the single " Kiss in the Dark"; the other was Kyu Sakamoto with the original Japanese-language version of " Sukiyaki". is Pink Lady's ninth single release, and their eighth number-one hit on the Oricon charts. The single sold 1,150,000 copies, and spent four weeks at number one. Henri Belolo (; 27 November 1936 – 3 August 2019) was a French music producer and songwriter active during the disco era. Born in Morocco, he started his career as a club DJ and A&R man. In the 1970s, with his friend, composer Jacques Morali, he worked in the United States, creating The Ritchie Family as well as their most successful group, Village People. Life and career Belolo was born in Casablanca, Morocco, and grew up there listening to music introduced by US troops as well as that of African musicians. is Pink Lady's twelfth single, released in May 1979. It peaked at number six on the Oricon charts and number five on the Japanese Music Labo chart. It was the duo's first single to not be written by Shunichi Tokura and Yū Aku. The song is a cover of the Village People's " In the Navy," but with rewritten Japanese lyrics that have nothing to do with the original content of the song. In the song's chorus the lines ''"In the navy"'' have been replaced with ''"Pink Lady"'', and ''"They want you as a new recruit"'' with ''"I want you, you want Mie/I want you, you want Kei"'' (referring to group members Mie and Kei). Dean Pitchford (born July 29, 1951) is an American songwriter, screenwriter, director, actor, and novelist. His work has earned him an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award, as well as nominations for three additional Oscars, two more Golden Globes, eight Grammy Awards, and two Tony Awards. Early life Pitchford was born in Honolulu, where he attended Catholic schools, graduating in 1968 from Saint Louis High School. Biography A 1969 graduate of the Dwight-Englewood School, Gore received the school's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2004. is the sixth single by Japanese duo Pink Lady, released on December 5, 1977 on Victor Entertainment. Background As with their previous singles, the music was composed by Shunichi Tokura and the lyrics were written by Yū Aku. "UFO" is about a woman who falls in love with a man she describes as "out of this world". The original studio version only has one "UFO" chant in the beginning of the song; live performances added two chants during the instrumental and towards the end. Live performances of the song are known for Pink Lady's silver sequin outfits and their elaborate dance choreography. The performance begins with Mie and Kei waving their microphones before doing the "UFO greeting" (placing the right open palm above the back of the head).
