Innenstadt, Cologne
Innenstadt () is the central borough ('' Stadtbezirk'') of the City of Cologne in Germany. The borough was established with the last communal land reform in 1975, and comprises Cologne's historic old town (Altstadt), the Gründerzeit era new town (Neustadt) plus the right-Rhenish quarter of Deutz. The Innenstadt has about 127,000 inhabitants (as of December 2020) and covers an area of 16.37 square kilometres. Cologne Stadtbahn
The Cologne Stadtbahn is a light rail system in the German city of Cologne, including several surrounding cities of the Cologne Bonn Region (Bergisch Gladbach, Bonn, Bornheim, Brühl, Frechen, Hürth, Leverkusen-Schlebusch, Wesseling). The term ''Stadtbahn'' denotes a system that encompasses elements of trams as well as an underground railway network (''U-Bahn'') and interurban rail, even including three lines that are licensed as heavy rail and used by freight trains as well as Stadtbahn vehicles. Two of these lines connect the Cologne Stadtbahn to the Bonn Stadtbahn. Köln Süd Station
Köln Süd (Cologne South) station is located in the southwestern edge of the Innenstadt of Cologne in the district of Neustadt-Süd in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located between the streets of Luxemburger Straße and Zülpicher Straße. The station is a stop for regional services on the West Rhine Railway. The Cologne freight railway bypass branches off from the station over the South Bridge; it is also used as needed by passenger trains. The station has four platform tracks at two island platforms and two tracks without platforms, which are used by the intensive freight traffic. Köln West Station
Köln West (Cologne West) station is located in the northwestern edge of the Innenstadt of Cologne in the district of Neustadt-Nord in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located on Venloer Straße (street). The station is a stop for regional services on the Cologne ring railway (part of the West Rhine Railway). It is also served by lines 3, 4 and 5 lines of the Cologne Stadtbahn, which run through the ''Hans-Böckler-Platz/Bf. West'' underground station. The surface station has two platform tracks on a 303-metre-long island platform and eight tracks without platforms, which are used by intensive freight traffic. Köln Hansaring railway station is situated in the city of Cologne in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, about one kilometre northwest of Köln Hauptbahnhof. A few hundred metres west of the station is the ''Betriebsbahnhof Köln Hansaring Wendeanlage'' (Köln Hansaring operations station reversing facility). Köln Messe/Deutz Station
Köln Messe/Deutz station (called ''Köln-Deutz'' until November 2004, Colognian: , ) is an important railway junction for long-distance rail and local services in the Cologne district of Deutz in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is situated close to the eastern bank of the Rhine and connected via the Hohenzollern Bridge to Köln Hauptbahnhof, the city's main station, which is just a few hundred metres away. Köln Hauptbahnhof or Cologne Central Station is a railway station in Cologne, Germany. The station is an important local, national and international transport hub, with many ICE, Thalys and Intercity trains calling there, as well as regional Regional-Express, RegionalBahn and local S-Bahn trains. EuroNight and Nightjet night services also call at the station. It has frequent connections to Frankfurt by way of the Cologne–Frankfurt high-speed rail line, which starts in southern Cologne. On an average day, about 280,000 travellers frequent the station, making it the fifth busiest station in Germany. The station is situated next to Cologne Cathedral. ''Rheinau harbour'') is a urban regeneration project in Cologne, Germany, located along the river Rhine between the Südbrücke (Southern Railway Bridge) and Severinsbrücke (Severin Bridge), just south of the inner city's historic old town. The project is set around the actual Rheinauhafen, a formerly commercial harbour developed during the 1880s, and spans in the north-south direction and east-west at its widest. Kranhaus
Kranhaus ("crane house", plural ''Kranhäuser'') refers to each one of the three 17-story buildings in the Rheinauhafen of Cologne, Germany. Their shape, an upside-down "L", is reminiscent of the Crane (machine)#Harbour usage, harbor cranes that were used to load cargo from and onto ships, two of which were left standing as monuments when the harbor was redesigned as a residential and commercial quarter in the early 2000s. Each building is about high, long, and wide. They were designed by Aachen architect Alfons Linster and Hamburg-based Hadi Teherani of ''BRT Architekten''. MediaPark
The MediaPark is an urban regeneration neighborhood in Cologne, Germany, completed by the turn of the millennium. It was set up to accommodate companies of the media and communication industry, as well as cultural institutions, a hotel and some apartment buildings. The MediaPark is situated in Neustadt-Nord, Cologne, on the site of a former goods station, and is some 20 hectare large. The project was designed by Canadian architect Eberhard Zeidler, with construction lasting from 1990 until 2004. The buildings sit radially around a central square, and are surrounded by parks and a small lake. The city quarter's focal point is the 148 metre tall KölnTurm, designed by French architect Jean Nouvel and completed in 2001. KölnTurm
The Cologne Tower (german: KölnTurm) is a 44- storey office skyscraper in the Köln-Neustadt-Nord district of Cologne, Germany that stands high, or , including its antenna. Construction of the tower lasted from June 1999 to November 2001. It is the second-tallest building in the city (after the Cathedral), the second-tallest in North Rhine-Westphalia (after the Post Tower in Bonn), and the twelfth-tallest in Germany.
