William Thomas Emmanuel (born 31 May 1955) is an Australian guitarist. Regarded as one of the greatest acoustic guitarists of all time, he is known for his complex fingerstyle technique, energetic performances and use of percussive effects on the instrument. Little By Little (Tommy Emmanuel Album)
''Little by Little'' is an album by Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel that was released in 2010. Emmanuel released interactive video lessons of 16 songs from the album. Reception William Ruhlmann from AllMusic said "Emmanuel is simply a guitar player, and on ''Little by Little'', he sticks mostly to acoustic guitar, playing mostly original tunes that he has used in concert but not recorded before. He is also mostly solo, although the double-disc length allows him room to share space with guests including singers Pam Rose and Anthony Snape. Among the covers are two versions of "Moon River" one with a bass countermelody, the other with an Emmanuel vocal." adding "He also likes folk-pop; "Papa George" needs only a James Taylor vocal to fit into that category but ''Little by Little'' is a tour de force by a musician who usually leaves categories behind." Jason Shadrick from Premier Guitar said "From the opening notes of "Halfway Home" Tommy Emmanuel bowls you over with his amaz ...

Only (album)
'' Only'' is a studio album by Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, released in August 2000. The album peaked at number 53 on the ARIA Charts. Reception Jonathan Widran from AllMusic AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the databas ... said "His acoustic style is so rustic that listeners even 'hear the wood', so to speak, almost as harmony accents to his melodies. The untrained ear might think there's too much sameness from track to track, but closer listens reveal some interesting mood swings from the dark and hauntingly romantic "Those Who Wait" and "Questions" to more upbeat, folky ramblers like "Timberlake Road" and the truly locomotive "Train to Dusseldorf"." Minor 7th said "Only a few times in a lifetime does an artist come along who can do such magical things with six wires ...

Chet Atkins
Chester Burton Atkins (June 20, 1924 – June 30, 2001), known as "Mr. Guitar" and "The Country Gentleman", was an American musician who, along with Owen Bradley and Bob Ferguson, helped create the Nashville sound, the country music style which expanded its appeal to adult pop music fans. He was primarily a guitarist, but he also played the mandolin, fiddle, banjo, and ukulele, and occasionally sang. Atkins's signature picking style was inspired by Merle Travis. Other major guitar influences were Django Reinhardt, George Barnes, Les Paul, and, later, Jerry Reed. His distinctive picking style and musicianship brought him admirers inside and outside the country scene, both in the United States and abroad. Atkins spent most of his career at RCA Victor and produced records for the Browns, Hank Snow, Porter Wagoner, Norma Jean, Dolly Parton, Dottie West, Perry Como, Floyd Cramer, Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers, Eddy Arnold, Don Gibson, Jim Reeves, Jerry Reed, Sk ...

The Day Finger Pickers Took Over The World
''The Day Finger Pickers Took Over the World'' is an album by American guitarist Chet Atkins and Australian guitarist Tommy Emmanuel. Recorded when Atkins was 73, this was his last release of original material in the 20th century. "Smokey Mountain Lullaby" was nominated for the 1997 Grammy Award for Country Instrumental Performance. Reception Richard S. Ginell from AllMusic said "Chet Atkins still had another great recording in him." adding "Atkins' tune "Tip Toe Through the Bluegrass" plays the two styles off each other quite revealingly. Emmanuel turns out to be a top-notch tunesmith in his own right, too. His "Dixie McGuire" a disarmingly affectionate mid-tempo tune that won't let you go, inspires a performance that is one of the high points of Atkins'." Ginell said "The title track, which Atkins adapted from a lyric that dealt with bass players finds the two reciting and singing a mock-horror flick tale -- and "Ode to Mel Bay" good-naturedly mocks beginning string players eve ...
