''Ings'' is an old word of Old English origin referring to water meadows and marshes. The term appears in place names in Yorkshire (such as Hall Ings, Bradford, Fairburn Ings RSPB reserve, Clifton Ings in York, Derwent Ings, Sutton Ings, Acaster South Ings, and Wetherby Ings), as well as in Cumbria, and in Lincolnshire. Ings, Cumbria
Ings is a village in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England. It lies on the course on the River Gowan, Cumbria, River Gowan and A591 road, east of Windermere, Cumbria (town), Windermere. Ings is located in the parish of Hugill, historically a part of Westmorland. The Grade II*-listed St Anne's Church is located within the village. Daniel Ings
Daniel Ings (born 1985) is an actor from England. He starred as Luke Curran in the Channel 4/Netflix comedy series '' Lovesick''. Early life Ings attended Dauntsey's School in Wiltshire, followed by Lancaster University where he studied theatre studies, graduating in 2008. Ings later trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the National Youth Theatre. Career Ings has appeared in a number of stage, short films and television programmes. His most notable role to date is that of the playboy best friend Luke in Netflix romantic comedy Lovesick. Also notable are the roles of Jake in the Channel 4 comedy '' Pete versus Life'', Kelvin in the BBC comedy-drama ''Psychoville'' and John in Sky 1's comedy '' The Café'' in November 2011. Danny Ings
Daniel William John Ings (born 23 July 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for club Aston Villa. Ings started his career in the youth team of Southampton but was released as a schoolboy. He subsequently joined AFC Bournemouth, progressing through their youth system, while also spending time at Dorchester Town on loan. In 2011, Ings joined Burnley with whom he won the 2013–14 Championship Player of the Year, and helped them achieve promotion to the Premier League. Following Burnley's relegation, and the expiry of his contract with the club, Ings moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2015, but his first season at Anfield was ended after two months due to injury. Kendrick Ings (born June 17, 1990) is an American football wide receiver for the Fayetteville Mustangs of the National Arena League (NAL). He has also been a member of the Dodge City Law (CPIFL), Detroit Lions (NFL), BC Lions (CFL), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL), Baltimore Brigade (AFL), Atlantic City Blackjacks (AFL), and Carolina Cobras (NAL). Early life Ings attended Miller Grove High School in Lithonia, Georgia, where he was a member of the football, basketball and track & field teams. Simon Ings is an English novelist and science writer living in London. He was born in July 1965 in Horndean and educated at Churcher's College, Petersfield and at King's College London and Birkbeck College, London. Ings has written a number of novels, short prose and articles for national newspapers. He was culture editor at ''New Scientist'' for a while and as of 2021 continues to write for the magazine on cultural subjects.For example, His non-fiction book ''The Eye: A Natural History'' delved into the science of vision exploring the chemistry, physics and biology of the eye.
