Ingrid Thulin
Ingrid Lilian Thulin (; 27 January 1926 – 7 January 2004) was a Swedish actress and director who collaborated with filmmaker Ingmar Bergman. She was often cast as harrowing and desperate characters, and earned acclaim from both Swedish and international critics. She won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for her performance in ''Brink of Life'' (1958) and the inaugural Guldbagge Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for ''The Silence'' (1963), and was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress BAFTA for ''Cries and Whispers'' (1972). Early life and education Thulin was born in Sollefteå, Ångermanland, northern Sweden, the daughter of Nanna (née Larsson) and Adam Thulin, a fisherman. Sollefteå
Sollefteå () is a locality and the seat of Sollefteå Municipality in Västernorrland County, Sweden with 8,562 inhabitants in 2010. The earliest written account on Sollefteå is found in a script dating back to 1270. During this time the name of the village was given as De Solatum - a name that can be interpreted as a composition of ''Sol'' (sun) and ''at'' (property) i.e. literally The sunlit region. ''De Solatum'' also can be interpreted as desolation, which means loneliness or remoteness (see Remote and isolated community). ''Wild Strawberries'' is a 1957 Swedish drama film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman. The original Swedish title is ''Smultronstället'', which literally means "the wild strawberry patch" but idiomatically signifies a hidden gem of a place, often with personal or sentimental value, and not widely known. The cast includes Victor Sjöström in his final screen performance as an old man recalling his past, as well as Bergman regulars Bibi Andersson, Ingrid Thulin, and Gunnar Björnstrand. 30th Berlin International Film Festival
The 30th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 18–29 February 1980. The Golden Bear was awarded to the American film ''Heartland'' directed by Richard Pearce and West German film '' Palermo oder Wolfsburg'' directed by Werner Schroeter. The retrospective was dedicated to American filmmaker Billy Wilder along with a 3D films retrospective. Moritz de Hadeln became the director of the festival and increased the efforts in expansion of Berlin film market. The Guldbagge Awards ( sv, Guldbaggen, en, Gold scarab) is an official and annual Swedish film awards ceremony honoring achievements in the Swedish film industry. Winners are awarded a statuette depicting a rose chafer, better known by the name Guldbaggen.
