Inguiomer
Inguiomer or Ingomar ( la, Inguiomerus; fl. 1st century AD) was a leader of the Cherusci. He is chiefly remembered as the uncle of Arminius. Name Alexander Haggerty Krappe proposed the name derives from Old Germanic , related to Yngvi, the older name of the Germanic god Freyr.. Life Inguiomer was the brother of Segimer, a chieftain of the Germanic Cherusci tribe. This made him the uncle of Arminius and Flavus. Inguiomer is mentioned in Tacitus's account of the Roman reprisal campaigns of Germanicus against the Germans after their defeat at Teutoburg Forest. In AD15, he is mentioned arguing against Arminius's defensive strategy. He pursued the retreating army of Caecina across rough terrain, suffering a defeat in which he was personally wounded. Inguiomer is also mentioned joining the Marcomanni chieftain Maroboduus in his war against Arminius in AD17 or 18. ''Ingomar the Barbarian'' is an 1851 historical play by the British writer and former actress Maria Ann Lovell. It was based on the German play ''Der Sohn der Wildnis'' by Friedrich Halm. It premiered at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on 9 June 1851. The original cast included John Garside Neville as the Timarch of Masillia, James Robertson Anderson as Ingomar and Charlotte Vandenhoff as Parthenia. It appeared frequently on the American stage for the remainder of the nineteenth century. Adaptation In 1908 it provided the basis for the American short film, short silent film ''Ingomar, the Barbarian'' directed by D. W. Colin McAlpin (9 April 1870 – 13 May 1942) was an English composer of songs, operas and ballet music, an organist and a writer of critical essays on music. Life Colin McAlpin was born in 1870, at 15 Gallowtree Gate, Leicester, England. He was the fourth child of a clothier John William McAlpin, and his German wife Marie Louise (née Gerdes). His elder siblings were Kenneth, Donal and Janet, and his younger brothers Alan and John. McAlpin published his first composition when he was only 15 and at Wellingborough School: a song called ''The Cuckoo'' published in the ''Midland Musical Journal''. At the age of 16 he was admitted to the Royal Academy of Music to study harmony with Francis William Davenport and organ playing with Charles Steggall, and after three years he acquired silver medals in both areas of study. Ingomar, Montana
Ingomar is an unincorporated community in northwestern Rosebud County, Montana, Rosebud County, Montana, United States, along the route of U.S. Route 12 in Montana, U.S. Route 12. The town was established in 1908, as a station stop on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, then under construction in Montana. Although the land around Ingomar attracted numerous Homestead Act, homesteaders during the decade following the railroad's completion, the region proved to be far too arid and inhospitable for intensive agricultural use, and by the 1920s the town was in decline. The railroad through the area was abandoned in 1980, and only a handful of people remain in Ingomar today. Three of the town's surviving buildings: the Ingomar Public School, J. A. Bookman General Store, and Wiley, Clark & Greening Bank have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
