Inglewood High School is a four-year public high school in Inglewood, California. History The school opened its doors in 1905. On October 29, 2021, Inglewood High School beat Morningside High School 106-0. The win caused outrage for which the principal later apologized for "poor sportsmanship". Inglewood is a city in southwestern Los Angeles County, California, in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, the city had a population of 107,762. It was incorporated on February 14, 1908. The city is in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, near Los Angeles International Airport. History The earliest residents of what is now Inglewood were Native Americans who used the Aguaje de Centinela natural springs in today's Edward Vincent Jr. Park (known for most of its history as Centinela Park). Local historian Gladys Waddingham wrote that these springs took the name Centinela from the hills that rose gradually around them, and which allowed ranchers to watch over their herds," (thus the name ''centinelas ''or sentinels). Ralph A. Jackson III (born October 26, 1962) is an American former professional basketball player who played briefly in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Jackson attended Inglewood High School in Inglewood, California. The school's basketball team was the nation's top-ranked team in 1980, going undefeated and winning the national championship, with Jackson the CIF player of the year and all-time assists leader. At UCLA, Jackson averaged 8.4 points, 4.7 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 111 career games between 1980 and 1984. Jackson was selected by the Indiana Pacers in the fourth round of the 1984 NBA draft with the 71st overall pick. He signed with the Pacers on September 1, 1984, and played his one and only NBA game on November 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers. He was waived by the Pacers on November 9. Jay Humphries
John Jay Humphries (born October 17, 1962) is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He later served as the first head coach of the NBA D-League's Reno Bighorns. He last worked as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets. Humphries played on the top-ranked high school basketball team in the country in 1980. Inglewood High School went undefeated with the help of Humphries, center Vince Kelley, point guard Ralph Jackson, and wing man Angelo Robinson, as they went on to win the national championship that year. Humphries, a 6'3" guard, then played four seasons of college basketball for the University of Colorado. Jason Keema Hart (born April 29, 1978) is an American basketball coach and former professional player who is the head coach of the NBA G League Ignite. He was born in Los Angeles. College career From 1996 to 2000, he attended New York's Syracuse University, where he became the first freshman in the Big East Conference's history to lead it in minutes played. Later on, he earned other accolades as an NCAA player, such as becoming his college's all-time leader in steals and second place among assist leaders. Noel Felix (born October 4, 1981) is a former Belizean-American professional basketball player born in Los Angeles, California. A 6'9", 225 lb. forward-center from Fresno State Bulldogs men's basketball, Fresno State, Felix was the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-CBA First Team honors in the 2005–06 season, playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Jason Darius Crowe (born August 24, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player. He graduated from Cal State Northridge in 1999 and played 13 years as a professional in Europe, South America, Iran, Australia and New Zealand. DeAngelo Marquis Collins (born November 21, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. High school career The son of single mother Loretta Marie Taylor, he grew up in Stockton, California in a low-income neighborhood and since the beginning of his high school career Collins was a promising basketball player whose career was often slowed down by discipline issues. During his first year at Tustin High he was involved in a fight with a teammate, during which Collins caused serious injuries to the other student and was sentenced to 6 months in juvenile hall. After several more issues with the law (including another sentence for 2 months to be served in juvenile detention), Collins and his mother moved to Inglewood, California in an attempt to change the violent attitude of the teenager. Edla Muir (January 23, 1906 – November 5, 1971) was an American architect, best known for designing residences in Southern California. Early life and education Muir was born in 1906 in San Francisco, California. Her father was Joseph Muir, a throat surgeon and diplomat, and her mother Ethel Fitch Muir was an operatic soprano. Her first name is from her father's earlier wife, Edla Coleman McPherson, who died before her parents married. Edla Muir's parents divorced in 1916.
