Infidel (film)
''Infidel'' is a 2020 American political thriller written, directed, and produced by Cyrus Nowrasteh and starring Jim Caviezel, Claudia Karvan, Hal Ozsan, Stelio Savante, Aly Kassem, Bijan Daneshmand, and Isabelle Adriani. The film's executive producer is Dinesh D'Souza, who aided the film with his production company D'Souza Media. It is the second collaboration between Nowrasteh and Caviezel, following ''The Stoning of Soraya M.'' (2008). Both films deal with corruption and human rights abuses by the Iranian regime, and center on foreign journalists (played by Caviezel) whose rights are infringed upon and violated by the Iranian antagonists. Cyrus Nowrasteh (Persian: سیروس/کوروش نورسته ; ; born September 19, 1956) is an American-Iranian screenwriter, director, and producer of film and television. He has worked on numerous television series and made-for-TV movies including ''The Day Reagan Was Shot, Falcon Crest, Into the West,'' and the controversial docudrama ''The Path to 9/11.'' He has also directed the theatrical features ''The Stoning of Soraya M.'' (2009), ''The Young Messiah'' (2016), and ''Infidel'' (2020). Early life and education Nowrasteh was born on 19 September 1956, in Boulder, Colorado, and grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. Robert Alan Levinson (March 10, 1948 – presumed death before March 25, 2020) was an American former Drug Enforcement Administration (1970–1976) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (1976–1998) agent who disappeared on March 9, 2007, in Kish Island, Iran, while on a mission for the Central Intelligence Agency (1998–2007). Xiyue Wang
Xiyue Wang (; born December 31, 1980) is a Chinese-American academic who was imprisoned in Iran from 2016 to 2019 after being accused of espionage. Iran released Wang in a prisoner swap between the two countries, with the U.S. freeing Iranian scientist Massoud Soleimani. U.S. law enforcement arrested the Iranian stem cell scientist in Fall 2018 upon his landing in Chicago for violating the sanctions against Iran. A PhD candidate in the Department of History at Princeton University, Wang was arrested in Iran on 8 August 2016 on charges of espionage while he was conducting research on the Qajar dynasty.
