Infected Rain
Infected Rain is a Moldovan heavy metal band formed in 2008 in Chișinău. They are signed to Napalm Records. History The group was formed in 2008 by guitarist Vadim "Vidick" Ojog, lead vocalist Elena Cataraga a.k.a. Lena Scissorhands, and DJ Ivan Kristioglo a.k.a. DJ Kapa. They debuted in August 2008 at a concert dedicated to Slayer. Later that month, Infected Rain took part at a heavy metal festival in Crimea, named Red Alert, and recorded their first demo CD composed of three songs ("With Me", "Parasite", and "No Idols"). Also, the group held a number of concerts in Chișinău and Ukraine. Infected Rain took part at heavy metal festivals like Red Alert 2008, Metal Heads' Mission 2009, RockHausen 2008/2009, Fuckin'FuckFest 3, Big Up! Lena Scissorhands
Elena Cataraga (born 22 November 1986), known professionally as Lena Scissorhands, is a Moldovan heavy metal singer and songwriter. She is the lead singer and one of the founding members of the Moldovan metal band Infected Rain. She is also the vocalist of the American alternative metal band Death Dealer Union. Early life Cataraga was born on 22 November 1986 in Chișinău. As the eldest of three siblings, she grew up in poor circumstances, forcing her to find work at a very young age. Her mother worked as medical assistant. Her father is of Armenian nationality, and Lena grew up in a Russian-speaking family in Telecentru sector of Chișinău. Cataraga attended a Romanian-language school in Chișinău, and at the age of 13, she became interested in alternative music. Fascinated by hard riffs and aggressive vocals, she discovered her love for metal music at the age of 14. Katatonia
Katatonia are a Swedish heavy metal band formed in Stockholm in 1991 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström. The band started as a studio-only project for the duo, as an outlet for the band's love of death metal. Increasing popularity led them to add more band members for live performances, though outside of the band's founders, the lineup was a constantly changing, revolving door of musicians throughout the 1990s, notably including Mikael Åkerfeldt of the band Opeth for a period. After two death/doom albums, ''Dance of December Souls'' (1993) and ''Brave Murder Day'' (1996), problems with Renkse's vocal cords coupled with new musical influences led the band away from the screamed vocals of death metal to a more traditional, melodic form of heavy metal music. Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk.
