Inez Courtney (October 12, 1897 – April 5, 1975) was an American actress on the Broadway stage and in films. Early years Born in Amsterdam, New York, Courtney came from a large Irish-American family. After her father's death when she was fifteen, she decided to go onto the stage. Career At age 16, Courtney was doing a specialty dance that earned her the nicknames of ''St Vitis'', ''Mosquito'' and ''Lightning''. Courtney's first role as a singer and dancer came in the musical ''The Little Whopper'' in 1919. She became known among New York theatrical audiences for her work in '' Good News'' (1927), a musical comedy about college life. Inez Milholland Boissevain (August 6, 1886 – November 25, 1916) was a leading American suffragist, lawyer, and peace activist. From her college days at Vassar, she campaigned aggressively for women’s rights as the principal issue of a wide-ranging socialist agenda. In 1913, she led the dramatic Woman Suffrage Procession on horseback in advance of President Woodrow Wilson's inauguration, though she had to accept that her beauty earned her more notice than her politics. Inez McCormack (née Murphy; 28 September 1943 – 21 January 2013) was a Northern Irish trade union leader and human rights activist. She was the first female president of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (1999 to 2001), representing the UNISON union. She also successfully campaigned for the inclusion of strong equality and human rights provisions in the Good Friday Agreement, and was a signatory to the MacBride Principles for fair employment. She is remembered as being one of three writers of the song " Vaya Con Dios", which has been recorded over 500 times. Her first film credits were in 1943 as a composer for songs in '' Mister Big'', ''When Johnny Comes Marching Home'', '' Moonlight in Vermont'', and four others. Inez Haynes Irwin (March 2, 1873 – September 25, 1970) was an American feminist author, journalist, member of the National Women's Party, and president of the Authors Guild. Many of her works were published under her former name Inez Haynes Gillmore. She wrote over 40 books and was active in the suffragist movement in the early 1900s. Inez Hogan (August 5, 1895 – February 1973) was an American writer and illustrator of children's books, particularly animal stories. She was born in Washington, D.C. and attended the Cape Cod School of Art. She lived in Provincetown and New York City. Hogan wrote 63 books, including many about her character Nicodemus. She illustrated another 19 books, including the first edition of '' Epaminondas and His Auntie'' by Sara Cone Bryant. Inez García (1941–2003) was a Hispanic woman who became a cause célèbre of the feminist movement when she was charged with the 1974 murder of a man who had raped her. Background García was born in New York City and raised in Spanish Harlem. Her ethnic heritage is mixed Puerto Rican and Cuban. She married the Cuban exile and Anti-Castro activist Juan García Cardenas, and the two of them had a son in 1963. Cardenas was imprisoned in Soledad, California, after being convicted of involvement in a political bombing in Los Angeles claimed by Poder Cubano.
