Industriequartier (Zürich)
Industriequartier is a district in the Swiss city of Zurich. Geography The district comprises the quarters Gewerbeschule and Escher Wyss. Together with today's District 4, the district formed the formerly separate municipality of Aussersihl, which was incorporated into Zürich in 1893. Economy The Technopark Zürich site was built between 1989 and 1993 as the first large single building on the industrial site of the former Escher Wyss & Cie company, and triggered the overall planning of the 17-hectare site. District 4 (Zürich)
Aussersihl is a district in the Swiss city of Zürich. Known officially as District number 4, the district is known as colloquially ''Chreis Cheib'', ''cheib'' being the Zürich German word for an animal cadaver. It earned the name as the area historically contained pits for the deposition of dead animals. It comprises the quarters Werd, Langstrasse and Hard. History The area of Aussersihl together with that of District 5 historically corresponds to the ''Sihlfeld'', the pastures and fields between the village of Wiedikon (now district 3) and the Limmat. The area was built up during the 18th century was separated from Wiedikon as the Aussersihl municipality on 27 March 1787. Aussersihl quickly grew into a town during industrialisation, mostly inhabited by factory workers, at times counting more inhabitants than the city itself. Münsterbrücke, Zurich
The Münsterbrücke is a pedestrian and road bridge over the Limmat in the city of Zurich, Switzerland. It is listed in the Swiss inventory of cultural property of national and regional significance. It is indirectly named after two ''Münster'' (minsters), the Fraumünster and Grossmünster. Geography The Münsterbrücke crosses the Limmat, connecting Münsterhof and Limmatquai at the historical core of the medieval town of Zurich. ''Limmatquai'' () is a street in the Switzerland, Swiss city of Zurich. It is named after the Limmat, and it follows the right-hand (eastern) bank of that river for about through the ''Altstadt (Zürich), Altstadt'', or historical core, of the city. Limmat
The Limmat is a river in Switzerland. The river commences at the outfall of Lake Zurich, in the southern part of the city of Zurich. From Zurich it flows in a northwesterly direction, continuing a further 35 km until it reaches the river Aare. The confluence is located north of the small town of Brugg, Aargau, Brugg and shortly after the mouth of the Reuss (river), Reuss. The main towns along the Limmat Valley downstream of Zurich are Dietikon, Wettingen, and Baden, Switzerland, Baden. Burghölzli, named after the wooded hill in the district of Riesbach in southeastern Zürich where it is located, is the ''Psychiatrische Universitätsklinik Zürich'' ('Psychiatric University Hospital Zürich'), a psychiatric hospital in Switzerland.
