The General Dutch Industrial Union of Agriculture ( nl, Algemene Nederlandse Agrarische Bedrijfsbond, ANAB) was a trade union representing workers in the agricultural sector in the Netherlands. The Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV) was founded in 1906, but none of its affiliates represented agricultural workers. As a result, in 1907, the NVV created the New Dutch Agricultural Workers' Union. In 1908, the Union of Dairy Workers affiliated to the NVV, and the following year, the two unions merged, forming the Federation of Agricultural and Dairy Workers, with 1,087 members. It added "Horticultural" to its name in 1912. The Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions ( nl, Nederlands Verbond van Vakverenigingen, NVV) was a Dutch social-democratic trade union. History The NVV was founded in 1906 as a merger of fifteen smaller unions, as a result of the inability of the previous unions to control the radical elements of the workers movement in the railworkers' strike of 1903. The NVV was led by Henri Polak, who was a prominent member of the socialist Social Democratic Workers' Party. During World War II the NVV was taken over by the German occupiers, its Dutch leader was Henk Woudenberg. Under the German occupation the NVV was transformed into a Nazi union. The Food Workers' Union ( nl, Voedingsbond, VB) was a general union for agricultural and food production workers, in the Netherlands. The union was founded in 1980, with the merger of the Industrial Union of Agriculture and Food and the Catholic Union of Agriculture, Food and Tobacco. These unions had previously been affiliated to the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV) and Dutch Catholic Trade Union Federation (NKV), respectively, but the two federations were in the process of merging to form the Dutch Federation of Trade Unions (FNV), to which the new union affiliated.
