Indonesian Embassy (Washington, D.C.)
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, D.C. ( id, Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia di Washington, D.C.) is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States. It is located at 2020 Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest, Washington, D.C., in the Embassy Row neighborhood. Indonesia has five consulate generals in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco, and an honorary consulate in Honolulu. There is also a permanent mission to the United Nations in New York. The current Ambassador is Rosan Roeslani who was appointed by President Joko Widodo on 25 October 2021. Building The building is also known as the Walsh-McLean House and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Indonesia and the United States established diplomatic relations in 1949. Relations are generally strong and close. Both are republics and recognize the strategic importance of their counterpart. The building can house one or several different nations' missions. The term derives from chancery or chancellery, the office of a chancellor. Embassy of Indonesia, Ottawa (french: Ambassade d'Indonésie à Ottawa; id, Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia di Ottawa) is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Indonesia to Canada. The embassy also represents Indonesia in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In addition to the embassy, Indonesia has two consulate generals in Toronto (Ontario) and Vancouver (British Columbia). The chancery is located on Parkdale Avenue, south of the Ottawa River in Mechanicsville. The Indonesian government bought and renovated the building in this location in 1997. Before this location, the chancery was located on 287 MacLaren Street, Ottawa. When the diplomatic mission was still in the form of a legation office in 1952, it was located on Aylmer Road, Aylmer, Quebec. Ali Sastroamidjojo ( EYD: Ali Sastroamijoyo; 21 May 1903 – 13 March 1975) was an Indonesian politician and diplomat who served as prime minister of Indonesia from 1953 until 1955 and again from 1956 until 1957. He also served as the Indonesian Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1957 until 1960, the first Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, the first Indonesian Ambassador to Canada and the first Indonesian Ambassador to Mexico. Hope Diamond
The Hope Diamond is a diamond originally extracted in the 17th century from the Kollur Mine in Guntur, India. It is blue in color due to trace amounts of boron. Its exceptional size has revealed new information about the formation of diamonds. The stone is known as one of the Golconda diamonds. The earliest records of the diamond show that French gem merchant Jean-Baptiste Tavernier purchased it in 1666 as the Tavernier Blue. The stone was cut and renamed the French Blue (''Le bleu de France''); Tavernier sold the stone to King Louis XIV of France in 1668.
