Indonesia In The ABU TV Song Festival
The participation of Indonesia in the ABU TV Song Festival has occurred eleven times since the inaugural ABU TV Song Festival and began in 2012. Since their début in 2012, the Indonesian entry has been organised by the national broadcaster Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI). History 2012 TVRI is one of the founder members in the ABU TV Song Festivals, having participated in the very first ABU TV Song Festival 2012. Indonesia was the only country to hold a televised selection process for the first ABU TV Song Festival, the selection called "Goes To Korea: ABU Asia Pacific TV Song Festival 2012 Indonesian Final" was held with six singers competing to represent Indonesia in Seoul. The singers all performed covers of existing songs, the winner was selected by a jury. TVRI (, Television of the Republic of Indonesia), legally ( Public Broadcasting Institution Television of the Republic of Indonesia) is a public television network and the oldest television network in Indonesia. Its national headquarters is in Gelora, Central Jakarta. TVRI monopolized television broadcasting in Indonesia until 24 August 1989, when the first commercial television station RCTI went on the air. Januarisman Runtuwene better known as Januarisman or Aris, (born 25 January 1985, in Jakarta, Indonesia) is an Indonesian rock singer. On 2 August 2008, he won the fifth season of the reality show ''Indonesian Idol''. After winning a competition BMG Recordings terminated his contract while he was recording his first album. As of now, he has no singles or albums released. He has no plans to sue the company for terminating the contract. The ABU TV Song Festival 2014 was the third annual edition of the ABU TV Song Festival. The ABU TV Song Festival 2012 was the first annual edition of the ABU TV Song Festivals. The festival, which was non-competitive, took place in the KBS Concert Hall, located in the South Korean capital of Seoul and coincided with the 49th general assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). Eleven countries confirmed their participation in the first edition of the competition. The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) had previously run international contests, inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest, for their members during 1985 – 1987.
