Indios De Mayagüez (volleyball)
The Indios de Mayagüez (Mayagüez Indians) are a baseball team in Puerto Rico's Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League, in Spanish). Based in Mayagüez, the ''Indios'' have won 20 national championships and 2 Caribbean World Series. The Indios have participated in a league’s record 40 Finals. It is one of three teams remaining from the original 6 incorporated into the LBPPR at its founding on November 13, 1938. The Indios were named after the formerly named Cervecería India (now the Compañía Cervecera de Puerto Rico, or CCC), the local brewery, and its formal sponsor over most of the team's 85-year run) besides the fact that Mayagüez, located at the western coast of Puerto Rico, has a strong indigenous heritage, starting with the city's name (which is derived from the Taíno language). Kurt Anthony Bevacqua (; born January 23, 1947) is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as an infielder from 1971 to 1985. Bevacqua is notable for his performance during the 1984 World Series when he hit two home runs and had a .412 batting average as the San Diego Padres' designated hitter. James Edward Dwyer (born January 3, 1950) is an American former baseball player who was an outfielder for 18 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for seven different teams between and . Listed at 5' 10", 185 lb., he batted and threw left-handed. Alfonso Valdés Cobián (June 23, 1890 – February 14, 1988), was an industrialist, banker, sportsman and politician. Valdés Cobián was a cofounder of Cervecería India, Inc., currently Puerto Rico's largest beer brewery. Early years Valdés Cobián was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico to Ramon and Encarnación Cobián. When he was a child his family moved to the United States and lived in Manhattan.
