Indias de Mayagüez is the Professional Female volleyball (LVSF) team of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The team's home court is the Palacio de Recreación y Deportes The Palacio de Recreación y Deportes German Wilkins Vélez Ramírez is a coliseum located in the city of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. It has capacity for 5,500 spectators. It was remodeled in preparation for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Ga .... History The Team was organized in 1998, and the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation approved the LVSF Franchise in 1999. The team's first season was in 2000. The team has consistently reached the playoffs and the semi-finals of the LVSF. The team's colors are green and white for the home uniform and white and green for the visiting uniform. The home court is at the Palacio de Recreación y Deportes in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. The Indias de Mayagüez won the LVSF Championship in 2013. Palacio De Recreación Y Deportes
The Palacio de Recreación y Deportes German Wilkins Vélez Ramírez is a coliseum located in the city of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. It has capacity for 5,500 spectators. It was remodeled in preparation for the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. In March 2008, José Guillermo Rodríguez, mayor of the city, announced in a concert given by Wilkins that after the Central American and Caribbean Games the arena would have the name of Germán Wilkins Vélez Ramírez, commonly known as "Wilkins". Wilkins inaugurated the arena (not the actual coliseum) with a concert 20 years before. The arena also has an acoustic conch outside, it bears the name of another Mayagüez native Frankie Ruiz. The arena is also the home of Baloncesto Superior Nacional professional basketball team, Indios de Mayagüez since 1981. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. Nomaris Vélez Agosto (born June 11, 1993) is a Puerto Rican volleyball player who plays as a libero for the San Diego Mojo of the Pro Volleyball Federation. Career In 2019 she made her international debut for the Puerto Rico women's national volleyball team during the Volleyball Challenger Cup qualifiers, where she was awarded the prize for best libero.
